One visit to Asda. Speed humps - bad enough to have spinal compression fractures! Little, young, toddlers bumping in to "steroid" bruised legs. Parents of glaring at me. Unacceptable result - me apologising. Kaye

These big supermarkets can be a real free for all, getting run into by trolleys, wayward kids knocking into you. I had my shins knocked, toes trodden on, trolleys pushed into me and been shouted at by the mother of a kid who was bashing a trolley into me.

Some of the kids are just plain feral, grubby rude, screeching, dashing around. Downright dangerous in fact.

ok I think not herd from her for a while but she speaks to dawns mum every day she is moaning cos dawn not rang her lately but dawns mum tell her that she don't see why she cant ring dawn for a change as she expects every one to ring her all the time

That sounds just like my dad, before he moved into a nursing home. I rang him every evening at 8 for a hour's chat and he complained that his old mates never rang him, when I asked why he did not ring them instead, he said that people always rang him for advice etc. during his more active years, he didn't see why they should stop now. Can't get through to him that staying in touch is a two way thing.

its the wifes nan and they are both very stubborn wife says if nan can ring up to order things on the phone or do some of them competitions she can ring me too

I suggested to dawn that in stead of cooking big meal Christmas day we go to the pub Christmas eve and have a Christmas meal there hungry horse have a special offer for 2 corse christmas meals as dawns youngest go to his dads Christmas day afternoon and we take him so everything would be a rush so we could have gammon chips and eggs on Christmas day so its quick and simple she was all keen till I said we cant take your nan too then she wasn't so keen

I'm sure you wouldn't want poor Nan to be on her own, especially at Christmas.

oh we invited her last year got in all nice things for her then on Christmas eve she rang said she wasn't coming as her legs were sore back hurting then she rang dawns mum and said I got out of going there this year , if we invite her to come on a sunday she don't want to come unless we say we are going some where with a bar then she want to go

People just don't get it Kaye and are always in such a big hurry, dragging kids along behind them. I am not a supermarket fan at all but they are a necessity as Pete won't let me order online. People are so rude when he is out on his scooter and it is always Pete who is apologising. I am the one who does the glaring!

You take care and just get out there and try and go at quieter times maybe. Do they exist though? xxx

Hi Sassy,

I can't understand why Pete won't let you order online. My life changed when I discovered Ocado. I enter a supermarket about three times a year now. They deliver in 1 hour slots and pay you when you give your bags back. Gone are the problems with parking, feral kids, packing and lugging the bags and best of all I spend less because I am not tempted. What's not to like? Take care.xx

And most important of all you're not exposed to other people's coughs and sneezes! I use Sainsbury's though, ever since Ocado messed up my Christmas order last year and I had to rush out at the last minute only to find the shops had run out of most stuff!

oh dear nadimah. That can be the downside, especially if you have arranged tohave it all delivered on Christmas Eve. At the dentists today they told me that there wasn't one spot in the carpark on Saturday at Waitrose because of people getting organised for Christmas. So now I am going to sit back and wait for the funny comments about Waitrose customers. We in Stratford upon Avon do have an Aldi as well but they go in there in full disguise!

that's funny nadimah. When Primark first opened in Winchester I went with my Daughter in law. It was pristine and almost deserted. When we went back six months later it was teeming with clothes all over the floor, just like its other branches.

I agree Stillstanding but I think Pete likes to get out and go round the shops to actually see things and then buy them. I have used Tesco and it was fine. That was when Pete was ill with a chest infection. I will have a chat to him as I don't mind not trailing around a supermarket. You take care. xxxxx

Stillstanding, I too am a big fan of online shopping. I can make far better choices because special offers are grouped together, price per kilo is clear to see and compare and my shopping is delivered to my kitchen table, always by pleasant drivers. Also you can add to your order right up until almost midnight before delivery day.

Once when in a supermarket I felt a trolly run into my leg. I turned to look and this woman said "well, you keep on stopping"! I didn't answer, it might have been rude! What else do you do in a supermarket but keep stopping? Just a "sorry" would have been nice. iris x
