Once the race was over I went from burning hot to shaking uncontrollably and feeling icy cold to the core. My daughter bundled me up in an effort to keep me warm while we waited close to an hour for a taxi back from South Shields to Newcastle. Back at the hotel I went straight to bed, still fully clothed, and Izzy turned up the heating, but still I shivered untill about 10pm when I managed to eat 4 chicken nuggets without throwing up, and went to sleep. I have accused my daughter of 'cruelty to mums' for taking this - now her fave picture of me, which she calls 'Mumsie the bag lady'!!! Grrrr!!
