Is there a link between asbestos plural thickening and sleep apnea. Looking for info on a relationship between asbestos exposure where plural thickening is proven and sleep apnea is as well. Has any one done any research related to this where it is legitimately documented.

Thanks for the info I'm hoping it will. I am attempting to find a positive link between asbestos exposure and Sleep Apnea. Haven't found it yet but I will. Here in the states there seems to be a very real purposeful disconnect when looking for info about the two maladies. I'm a navy veteran that had continual asbestos exposure that has evidenced itself in plural thickening of my lungs etc. I have also been diagnosed w/ severe sleep apnea. I use a CPAP and cannot sleep without it, makes life very uncomfortable at times. My thinking is that if asbestos fibers have embedded themselves in my lungs and then encapsulated themselves. Why is it that no organization or individual has asked about a sleep apnea relationship. Asbestos fibers when in a friable state embed themselves in soft body tissues and would at least in my case (so far) they only became encapsulated. And as a result of that my airways have thickened and become very restricted causing me to become dependent upon an air compressor next to me every night. Fun when the power goes off. Sorry to bend your ear so much.

It's coz the only pay out for listed conditions liver cancers and that gland in throat immunity thing was only just added to USA prescribed list
I would think anything that affects ones ability to breathe can contribute to sleep apnea.
I also have sleep apnea which my consultant links to COPD. I also sleep with CPAP machine I would not manage without it as a rule I get 8 hours uninterrupted sleep now where it used to be two to three hours prior to wearing the mask. I am a CO2 retainer as well so it helps keep carbon dioxide levels down. It is hard though knowing I can never go to sleep without the mask again. As a treT to myself in the morning once I take it off I usually size for half hour with my face on the pillow. Small luxury!! Carole x
