Feel like a good moan.

Hi everyone, some of you may remember me,I have severe emphysema and am now on oxygen 24/7 my consultant has as good as written me off,I have a portable oxy on wheels as I can barely lift it and even with it set at 4 ltrs per min I can only walk less than 10 yards.I even have to use it to shower and dressing is a nightmare.I think I have moved from severe to final stage but they won't confirm it.A bit of good news I have the blood pressure of a 20 year old and no weight problems.Sorry to be so negative but after so many infections constantly coughing up filthy gunk I think I am entitled to a little moan.Bengunn.

Hello Bengunn, you've every right to have a good ole moan! Sounds like all the infections have left you in a bad place and its hard to rebuild yourself back up. Your Consultants a barrel of laughs isn't he! If you can believe in yourself and your own capabilities then you could improve how you are, BP being good is a start......baby steps and start building up what strength you have.

Do you have a concentrator , please keep in touch, sending you a very big hug, huff xxx

Get it off your chest (Pun intended) I can only guess how you feel at the moment but by typing out your feelings may help the tensions.

I had my Consultant turn around to me and simply said "I am sorry I do not have a Magic Pill For you!"

Keep getting that vile bile up.

Be Well

You are right Bengunn to have a moan and this is the best place! Well that consultant sounds great - not! Can you ask to see someone else! I know that when my husband has had infections (just getting over another one) it takes him a long time to recover. So I am guessing that you will be pretty weak too. You need to be kind to yourself and take care of yourself.

I am just wondering if a call to the helpline might be useful. They might be able to advise re: oxygen and treatment etc. You can call the helpline on 03000 030 555 Lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

PS My husband has rubbish blood pressure so that is a great positive! Hope you have a good day today, just take it easy and take everything at your own pace. Lots of love TAD xxx

You certainly are entitled to a good moan and here's the place to do it where folks understand. I am so sorry you are struggling so much. Good news about you bp and weight. Wishing you well and hope you feel in a better space after reading messages from your BLF family.

I turned it down I was shocked at. What they thought I could carry around on a trolley while I am trying to walk along the beach ,I made a fuss and they have ignored me for over a year, tel me " you've got a car and inhalor,so I am going to rent the most smallest portable oxy ,get a private docs letter and off I go .that s the state of the NHS .

Oh dear Bengunn i really feel for you. If it's any consolation i asked my consultant whilst in hospital what the prospects were, this was last October his reply was well we will try and get you through this year! So i was planning my demise. But here we are still going strong. So my advice is never give up. Take care xx
