Worsening copd
Hi
Perhaps the blf nurses can answer that one i cant remember what i was told about that x
Having exacerbations can mean that you don't regain your previous fitness but this doesn't always happen, and certainly not every time. And everyone is different so you can't really predict what will happen. Some people remain stable despite having chest infections. There's no certainty with this. Why don't you do as Mandy has suggested and phone the BLF helpline Warbler.
All the best
I'm one of the lucky ones. They don't seem to make me any worse but, as has been said, we are all different.
Nor me
It's hard to tell. I've dropped 2% over the year but whether that was before or after a big infection in January where I wound up in hospital, it's hard to say.
I don't want to be the bringer of bad news but Copd progresses if you don't get chest infections. I suffer with Copd by way of having emphysema. I have a colonised chest infection and I take Azithramycin every other day its now 17 months since my last infection I'm also on carbocysteine 3 times a day and don't have sputum problems at all. I don't know if my spelling is correct for these drugs but they are certainly good for me. Theres just one thing I would advise if anyone goes onto Azithramycin take it after meals I started to take it before and it gave me terrible stomach ache and its ok.
