Just finished my third time on P Rehab course. So surprised at the number of people on the course who still smoke. Some are a lot fitter then me!!! xx

Suprised
Oh brook thats something that shocked me too.....they would all light up after the group and it makes a mockery of it all.
Just remember your there for you not anyone else so enjoy it and take all the information in so make life a little easier x x x
I know not fair is it yet I never smoked in my life when the hospital told my asthma had escalated into full blown COPD he said the fags would have to go when I never have not even an experimental one in my school days. He just glowered at me as if to say you bloody liar (sorry for the swearing). We all know COPD emphysema favours smokers best a few of us actually develop the congenital breed.

Hi Ant. Wow, that really is rare!!! I bet you could have slapped the consultant.
I know someone who had something wrong with his legs from being a child. Eventually, in his forties, he ended up wheelchair bound. He has COPD.He went to P Rehab last year and loved it, but, he was laughing about how they all went outside for fag and got told off.
He calls bingo at the flats he lives in and goes out at break time and smokes two cigs, one lighting the other, then goes back in and starts coughing his head off. They run and open the window for him. you couldn't make it up. xx
Hi Brooke
Lovely to see you posting again. I must have missed your postings about a month ago.
And great to see you did the PR course again.
It is such a shame to see people smoking after the classes. I know it is so hard to give up and I struggled and had plenty of lapses until I finally kicked the habit. But I don't think I'd go to PR unless I was on programme to give up.
Take care Brooke.

When I gave up I said to my daughters' this is my last rollup, and it was. I stopped there and then.
No efags, nothing. My health was more important.
I wish all of you who are finding it hard to stop smoking the best of luck. Just remember what you are doing to your lungs every time you breathe in a drag of a fag and think to yourself " Well, there's some more damage to my already bad
lungs " !
Just to add. I gave up because I was diagnosed with angina so blamed the fags. It was only after ( about 8 weeks ) that I found I was gasping for breathe. I was then diagnosed with Stage 4 very severe emphysema. Rather odd I think.
Hi Brooke12, never ceases to amaze me that people on PR still smoke, seems to rather defeat the issue. But realize no one can change things. I found the gym daunting for that reason, people seemed much fitter than me although they had heart and lung conditions, and some of whom were still smoking. So I understand how you feel. Sorry for late reply been to a skittles match yesterday, purely for fun. No championship player, can't even lift the balls without help. Have a nice day x
I've just started a PR, and 2 out of the 4 of us smoke! "Some are a lot fitter then me!!! " - down the line they won't be, that's a safe bet.
It is amazing how many people still smoke but hope you enjoyed PR Brooke and that you are keeping as well as you can. xxxx
Yes I felt better, fitter and not so down while smoking. Once I had stopped everything seemed to get worse. I suppose you have to look at the long term affects. I am still waiting to start P/Rehab hope it will be good.
Carry on

I think it should be a condition of getting on rehab course that you have stopped smoking,it,s not easy for any of us to give up!There are not enough places so those that make sacrifices should get the benefit. As you can probably tell I,m fed up waiting for my next course 6 months and still waiting.I,ve taken to going to my hospital and wandering about in there just for the exercise.D.
