Hi Newlands,

Wishing you the best of luck with your operation today. I am sure it will go well, as so many people benefit from this operation. Its only natural to be apprehensive, but the nurses will be there to reassure you, and help you all that they can.

Take care,

hugs from Huggs xxx :)

Hi Dorothy,

Glad everything went so well, and you were so well looked after. I bet it wasn't as bad as you thought it was going to be either, and you will be so relieved it is done now.

Take care,

hugs from Huggs xx :)

Hi Dorothy. There will be a ring to put your head in. Even I managed it with my Spinal and pelvic injuries. There is a nurse to hold your hand throughout. So you can squeeze if you need them to stop. Rib

Oh that is lovely to hear Dorothy. Now you look forward to the drops. Are you having a second eye done in a few weeks?

Just look out for the colour change. It looks very different.

Got to wait months. See the consultant in 12 weeks in clinic then my doctor has to refer me again how stupid is that. Think they hope I will pop my clogs lol

Oh Dorothy that is mad. I was referred to the hospital by my optician. I had the worst eye cataract removed. Check up at hospital eye clinic few weeks later then a few weeks after I had the second cataract done. There were some folk sat in the day room on my second op as were there when I had my first done.

How times have changed in 20 years.

Good luck with that Dorothy. I have heard the results are very good and you will be able to see much better very soon after x

Hi newlands, I have emphysema stage IV. I have just had both eyes cataracts done a few weeks ago. I was like you worried about being laid down. After both ops I am fine I had intra ocular lens put in and after 60 yrs of wearing glasses it is very strange not to wear them anymore. The actual operation is almost over before you think about it. It faster than them getting you ready. Try and relax. Good luck. Dave from the LoS.

Ok Yorkie - I can beat you by two years. Had first cataract done 7th Oct & the second 1st Nov. Like I am without glasses for the first time in sixty two years .A whole new way of life !!!! I do still have to wear them for reading but ,as the optician said ,I have gone from being "Monster Myopic " & dense cataracts to being able to drive without glasses, even in the dark . It's great isn't it , & as you say , over before you know it . Take care , Helen .

There's nothing to it Newlands. It's over very fast and you don't feel a thing. A nurse will hold your hand throughout and they will stop immediately if you feel at all uncomfortable. The benefits are enormous and by this time tomorrow you'll wonder what you were worrying about? The fiddliest part is having to put drops in your eyes daily for a while afterwards. Good luck. XX

Well thank you for your encouragement Had far worse procedures than this my fev 1is only 19. And was more worried about coping with that ,but staff and consultant were very caring

Take care

Wow I can beat you all! I was very short sighted from the age of 11 and had to wear glasses all the time. By the age of 51 I determined to end this short sighted life so I paid to have my eyes lasered in 2005 (not a cataract op this was different) and now I only need glasses for reading due to age. Best thing I ever did and it has. revolutionised my life. From having by far the worst site in my family I now have the best and they give me things

to read! Lovely :d

Yours will be nothing compared to what I went through so if I can do it you can so go for it! xx
