whats with the docs these days ..... they can't offer me an appointment that i can attend at chest clinic and now they are saying because i "won't" go to the appointment they won't issue my medication

That's crazy. Have you explained to your doctor why you can't go to the appointments? Other than that maybe contact the practise manager to ask them to explain this and ask about the surgery policy in this situation. Good luck. x
the policy is they won't issue prescriptions with out annual check ups .... but at the end of the day its nearly xmas and i have 2 kids at school means crazy school stuff ...... he offered me 3 appointment times all on times i have stuff booked i explained why
Hi Yvette, ours are missing items off repeat prescription requests . I recently got a letter scoldingme for missing an appointment that could have been used for someone else when I hadn't made one.A daughter who goes to a different surgery had the same letter. We need to keep an eye on them. Joyce
Yvette, don't even ask what is going on with them! Who the hell knows! I have just (yesterday) sent a letter of complaint to my GP surgery practice manager about all that is going on! What's the betting that I get a letter telling me I have been struck off! Oh well, that will be their bad luck as I will then approach the newspapers! I am sick and tired of NOT doing anything these days! Juney
Hi Juney, just to say they can't remove you from a list for complaining these days, not allowed to compromise your health treatment. They must review your complaint and try to sort it out if you are not satisfied with the outcome you then have the right to take it further. However if you decide to pursue a legal case then the procedure is totally different.Speaking from experience the new system is a little more flexible, some practices have patient reps that have meetings to discuss failings in the practice that need addressing. I have been through what they call a doctor reconciliation meeting with my practice due to an incorrect approach to patient need. you have my empathy with you, good luck hope they arrange a meeting for discussion with you soon. These things can help to clear the air after all you are a dissatisfied customer and anywhere else you have a right of complaint so why not against the medical services if warranted? I look forward to hearing the results of your complaint letter.

Ours are not too bad, except for the wait for an apt. ....we do have one receptionist who was rather difficult at times.......but when I mentioned this to my respiratory nurse she said ccinplaints had been made and the person in question was about to get jumped on,
She was, ,.......what a change !!!!!!!
all our receptionist are on power trips .... drives me mad
I had a very similar experience the start of this year...
Even after explaining I have COPD Emphysema and scarred lung, I just got no appointments available and she put the phone down on me...
I complained, she was reprimanded and shortly after that she was no longer there..
Her replacement..... not as bad, at least she can read the at risk patient note on the computer system.................... BUT she is as thick as mince....

It does seem that they are in meltdown. They have been told to do things very differently to the way they have been for a very long time. A Lot of the decisions are coming from their budgets now hence the reason we do not get the tests and appointment we used to. However their budgets have been amended to take the pressure off them (they forget to tell us this)
I went with my wife to get both our scripts reauthorised yesterday and we saw a new young GP who was pleasant and went though each medicine and suggested if we are no longer using them do not order as they will help save costs for the NHS! Fair comment. When he got to me did the same and took my blood pressure and commented on my tachi and AF (both are performing at the moment) Once we got the list out the way he said you have not had a blood test for some time and I would like one ASAP so nothing to eat or drink after 00:00 I was dropping my SA test kit back to my hospital so not an major issue.
Surely they can't do that? I know they keep mentioning the unattended appointments which take up time and money, but surely they know you have medical reasons????? Hope you get it sorted soon
an appointment hasn't been booked yet so its not like i'm not turning up ..... the thing is we need our meds and to refuse it because i have things booked for almost everyday through december at the kids schools in the cold weather .... the worst time for us .... is actually pretty dangerous i would think
100pc agree louisiana, medical reasons are far more important than money,,, it would cost them a lot more if one had to be admitted to hospital because of this stupid so called "rule"

I understand your frustration my old GP I had been with since birth around 50 years I was diagnosed with COPD given a blue inhaler and told to go home. It would take at least 5 weeks to get appointment and you had to be clever to get past the rot viler on the front desk.
If you have a walk in centre go to them I did and now I'm registered with them and I haven't looked back good luck
I understand your frustration where I live the QCC have flagged up how difficult to get an appointment and has been graded 2 stars out of a possible 6. The problem with my old GP surgery was the appointments were taken up by the elderly they went to get indigestion meds it does make me mad I think DR's should be stopped prescribing meds you can buy over the chemist shelf.
Six months before I left this surgery I got the flu I had run out of morphine and other meds I rang the rottie on reception to ask for steroids and antibiotics told her I had run out of morphine she said I had to see the DR and offered me an appointment for 3 weeks later my husband was working in Germany he ended up coming home and taking me to the walk in because if I had gone to A&E they would of sent me back to my GP.
this is it if i go to a&e i risk being admitted for the sake of some pills the gp could have given me but won't cause i can't get the appointment i need and round we go .... i'm only 35 have 2 kids in school and a hubbie that works 200 miles away ..... and we can't afford him taking time off because i end up in hospital when in reality its easily solved
