Been back to hospital today. For them to check my levels and my carbon dioxide levels.

They have tried upping my oxygen due to my carbon dioxide being so low. But that didn't work as my levels was still low. So now they have arranged for me to see my consultant in 3 weeks to decide on what to do next. As they can't understand why it's do low. I'm beginning to think there is something else causing the carbon dioxide to be so low in my body.

Hi Michelle,

sorry to hear it's still low. Have you got? or thought about asking for a respitory nurse, she specialises in oxygen levels., possible oxygen therapy to help levels......Maybe ring your gp or, consultant's secretary and see if that poss. You can call them, if they not free, ask for a cancelation. My hubby once got earlier appt, but when not ,the secretary asked con about stuff and we got advice. Kind regards and keep well.xxxxx

I been today the respiratry nurse has brought my appointment forward. For 3 weeks time. They can't understand either why it's so low. So I've just got to wait now and see my consultant. I got diagnosed with emphysema after a ct scan. My mum had empthysema and she retained her carbon dioxide.

Like still truckin mentioned hyperventilating may cause low co2 levels, gentle diaphragm breathing through the nose I find helps me. I also find meditating calms me and slows and settles my breathing and helps get me out of the cycle of over breathing and panic.

Take care

It might sound a bit low key, but controlled breathing really does help oxygen levels, breathe in slowly through nose and gently out through mouth a few times until you are control again. good luck

Hi Michelle, had another thought about your low Co2 levels, I think exercise can help, can you get onto a pulmonary rehab course so that you can exercise safely while being monitored?
