Ive come home as of yesterday. Still have cough and sweats, but im going back to work and i feel better...hospitals take care of you...a bit too much. But the prednisone has me feeling good. False feelings ?

Steroids like Prednisone are given to give you a boost. It is a bit like injecting some nitrous into a car engine. Great for a ten second boost but it blows the engine if you push too much in. Steroids are like that on the body. They can help us get over periods of infection so that our own body's get strong enough to carry on the fight. Use for too long and you have to come off them slowly because they are addictive. Taken too often they cause blood vessels to rupture. Bruising is the most common size. They can cause all sorts of damage to the blood vessels. Blindness, clots in the heart, clots in the brain. Always follow the instructions in the box and directions of your doctor. Regards Rib

You really need to give yourself more time to recover, the steroid will boost you up but you need rest.

I agree pushing your self is not a bad thing knowing when to pull back is the art. It is better in the long term.

I had a very bad infection in 2008 had 2 chest drains and a trachi they said had to have or I might not survive! I was put in an induced coma so that I could be moved to another hospital to have a decortication because if they did not I might not survive. They did not do it because they said I would not survive the procedure. So they put me on an Oscillator and gave me a 50% chance? While on it for 10 days they told the wife I was not going to see the night though twice! well 32 days in ICU 10 days on a ward and a total of 5.5 months off work I did survive! As you can see ;) There does not seem to be a hard and fast rule just do not give up.

Be Well

Hi Jimmy, over here you get offered a once in a lifetime Pneumonia jab if you are over 65 or have lung issues. I realy think that getting the flu jab every winter has helped me stay as well as I am. Good to hear you feel well enough to get back to work! Take care and avoid peeps with cold germs! :) huffxxxx
