I would submit a claim; certainly I would describe myself as disabled in an employment context & I am not on oxygen. x

Hi

You can and should claim any benefit you meet the criteria for. With regards PIP it is not the condition, but how you are affected by that condition,in respect of mobilty and taking care of your self.

You should seek assistance to compete the form from the likes of CAB.

I can see no reason why you should not consider PIP. However please please make sure you have someone that is good with these forms as they are all about the way they are worded. Your local CAB or Age UK have benefit advisor's. I used CAB for my ESA and they were brilliant. I do not think the Age UK one I went to about PIP was aware of how my condition affects me and my life. Her comment was "You do not look ill only a little pale?"

What you’ll get

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is usually paid every 4 weeks. It’s tax free and you can get it whether you’re in or out of work.

It’s made up of 2 components (parts). Whether you get 1 or both of these depends on how your condition affects you.

Daily living component

Daily living component Weekly rate

Standard £54.45

Enhanced £81.30

Mobility component

You should be putting in a claim for PIP, make sure you fill it in bearing in mind how your condition affects you in comparison to a typical person undertaking those activities. I would suggest you getting advice from CAB, they are apparently very good at helping to fill in these forms. Also if you are not able to work, have you applied for ESA- employment support allowance, you may find you are eligible for both , if you don't ask , they won't tell you! Good luck
