Wish you well on getting what you deserve plumbob its ridiculous how this system works, I have COPD diagnosed a few months ago, but I have another chronic disease which I have applied to receive PIP payment I have waited to be medically accessed for 6 months, petrified have no idea how to deal with these people, although have plenty of medical evidence, now I have this COPD so really don't know if I should tell them that as only nurse and GP know they have not sent me as yet to see doctor at hospital, so I hope you really do get it, as I have heard about people getting it when they shouldn't as for your neighbours finger that will heal won't it where our conditions will not, best of luck to you, let us know what happens, you may be able to make me feel a little braver when I have to see them. Angse
Thanks Angse - I got my MP involved in my PIP after waiting several months and Hey Ho got an acknowledgment and apology within a week and positive result within the month. So go and rattle cages (and don't be afraid of whose cage it is !!),it can help !!! Good Luck
This just shows the mentality of these so called professionals.
But your neighbour still wont be getting any benefit from pip as you require 15%, I know this because I have a wrist fusion of 16 years and the assessment made 20%.
In your case, I can`t see justification for rejection.
tomc -if you have a fibrotic disease of the lungs such as asbestosis etc they pay out from 1% though 5% gets me £16 a week to add to my company pension and that doesn't even cover my prescriptions !!! But your right generally you have to be above 14% disability to get any benefit !! Initial application forms i filled for free prescriptions have been returned saying I'm not eligible !!!
Hi Lunch -Tried for exemption cert and failed and under 60 .. Gonna try again as recently got PIP approved... Ironically daughter lives in Wales (she getting maried next month & looking forward to it
Thanks plumbob. For getting back to me, I did not think of getting mp involved but thanks to you I do now, yes I defiantly will rattle some cages now, thanks. Again and to everyone on this site for caring and helpful attitudes, Angse
sqaudy -According to my initial application I was not elegible (under 60 years old) but having recently been awarded PIP I am now in the process of reapplying ---PIP 'Award' huh - sounds like an achievement not a source of income for survival !!! You have to fight for every little penny !!! Even though this is the first thing I have claimed for I have been lucky never to have been un- employed and been paying into a pension since I was 18 !!! was it worth it ???
Hi Plumbob, sorry for late reply been to family gathering . That's good news about appeal I wish you every bit of good luck. I don't understand however some of these ridiculous percentages, in the old system they were used only for industrial accident benefit claims. Your right to disability payments is supposed to be based on how badly your ability to perform work or normal daily living tasks is effected. It is a known factor that lung conditions impair the effort tolerance as it is called which impairs all activities. But I have seen even in the past people house bound in wheelchairs unable to wash and dress being refused until they go to appeal. Every Best Wish
I wish you the very best of luck.I find it incredible people don,t understand if you cannot breath you cannot do anything.Had this problem at blue badge assessment ,nothing wrong with my legs but I need to be able to breath for them to work!Hope it goes well for you.D.
Quite agree Farmer people look at you see nothing missing or i plaster so your ok despite your heart pumping like mad to get oxygen around your body...if they could only see you first thing in the morning !!!! (or maybe not !!!LOL).... Will keep everyone informed on how it goes on Wednesday
Good luck with your appeal as you all know I went for ESA they got the forms July 24th 2013 and I only got a assessment by a Atos DR two weeks ago his report now goes back to the DWP where a decision maker with no medical experience to make the decision if I get ESA or not work that one out. How much has it cost the NHS to supply me with sick notes over the year for a illness that will never improve I'm sure that the decision maker thinks if you have a limb amputated it will grow back.
At the next election I would like to see a hung parliament all the MP's hanging on rope outside no 10
Cheere Onamission ..This appeal is a result from ATOS assessment so I hope you don't have to wait that long if you have to (and probably will have to ) appeal against their decision !!!
Are these ppl for real? I nearly choked when I read about your neighbour. Good luck with your appeal, as you probably know I got my dla sorted after speaking to the decision maker on the phone and she understood that I'm not sure how im suddenly going to improve when mu lungs are shutting down, which basically means that I m dying! I think that's the problem, they say"just because you're dying your not dead yet so why do you think we shouldpay you back the"money"youve paid into the system all these years?"
Good luck with the appeal today plumbob xx. I scored nil points on my ESA assessment which I have been waiting almost a year for even though my employer terminated my employment for incapability to attend work due to sickness level so am taking my employer to tribunal for discrimination as Depression is classified as a protected characteristic illness under the Equality Act 2010 yet still dismissed me even though they are a local authority so should know better lol. I told the DWP that if they can find me an employer who is ok with the prospect of me being able to attend one day but may not be able to attend the next day if I am unable to face the world the next so would be absent and the work is not too exerting due to my suffering with COPD then I'd happily return to work so on that point I was told to obtain supporting letters from my health care professionals and they will look again at the decision of ATOSsers and subsequent scores they gave. I think unless you are dead then they will always feel there is some sort of work you can do. I'll keep you posted. Have a good day one & all xx
Also my GP has finally decided to send me for full bloods, chest X ray & " jelly test " on my neck as I have an abnormal gland on the right side and even better has referred me for psychotherapy for the depression. At last I'm being taking seriously now if only the DWP would do the same!!!!!
Sorry to hear of all the crap your going through Benluka....I know its frustrating and always sounds easy but we must remain positive !!! Some people are put in public positions when they haven't got clue about caring or even considering a person as a person instead of a statistic, I am sure they would take a different view if it was them or a relative not that I would wish ill health on anyone ... Try and keep your chin up getting down doesn't resolve anything... If you are down think about it ....The only way is up - Plumbob
Thanks Plumbob I agree if it were their relative then I'm sure it would be completely different!!!! Well done on your battle with the "matron type" lol and getting your 20% it doesn't get you a fortune but then as Tesco say "every little helps" eh!? . I managed to get two support letter from both of my keyworkers so the DWP will get them today and hopefully my GP letter will be ready next & will go some way towards making them understand that I am a person not just a statistic but won't hold my shallow breath on the latter!!!! I try to keep me chin up but faced with the obstacle course they pass of as a benefits system it is, as you're well aware, easier said than done but we do all have to keep on fighting this screwed up system. Let's just hope it gets better under the new appointed contractor but I doubt it. Take care y'all xx
