Hi all, I just came across a clinical trial for COPD sufferers to be held in South East London. May be of interest to some. This is the link:

COPD trials in South London
just to let you know I am waiting to start pr soon and have said I will do research for local university they have given me an power lung machine to use twice a day along side the pr programme and to keep a daily diary and they will analyse the results at the end. Will let you know the results at the end of the trial
That sounds interesting pompey lady. What a power lung machine? I'm doing pr at the moment too - just half way through. Finding it hard going on the treadmill but pretty determined to get to my target. I'm a bit surprised no-one else on here has commented on the trial - maybe no-one near south east? Still waiting for them to get back to me having had an e-mail saying I was a suitable candidate.
Googled the power lung machine - wouldn't it be great if something so simple and relatively inexpensive could actually make a difference to our lung function. Do let me know how you get on with it all.
Have they said how you will know what pecentage of improvement is down to doing exercise and what pecentage - if any - is down to using their power lung? I would have thought the only way to test it would be for patients to not do anything different to what they usually do andsee if it makes a difference then? As regular execise is the one thing that is known 100% to improve our breathlessness, strength, walking distance and mood it seems an odd way to 'test' it.
