Any members of the Grantham Breathe Easy group who can answer my question please. It is with regard to the May 29th meeting.

Listed is a talk by Dr J.H. Campbell a chest consultant. The reason I ask is as follows :--

Last month myself and friend driven by my husband spent one hour in each direction getting to & fro the Wisbech meeting. They were listed as having a respiratory physio that afternoon. I had already questioned the BLF about day & date not matching. Even so I had to ring twice before I got an answer that it was OK to go.

When we got to Wisbech we discovered there was no physio. The listing we were told was that of the previous year. BLF blamed the Wisbech group for the error in the listing, and Wisbech group blamed the BLF.

Not one to give up easily ..... I would like to hear what this Doc has to say at Grantham.

But I dont want to spend 3/4 hour driving each way for nothing.

Details on the Grantham Breathe Easy page make me suspect it could be another fools errand.

Grantham has their meeting on the last Wednesday of the month.

In May that would be the 28th......... But the meeting is listed as being on Wednesday 29th.

All remimiscent of the start of the Wisbech farce.

Although we did not stay at the Wisbech meeting, they were lovely people and very welcoming. Big Hello to them all.

Joan.

Hi

The date you have seen on the Grantham group page refers to last year. Thank you for making us aware of the error - the information will be removed asap.

Hi, thankyou for you reply.

So is the error with the date ? Or with the whole event

as at Wisbech group. .??

How does one get hold of the correct listings of these Breathe Easy groups so one can attend to hear the various speakers.

Lastly may I have today s ' letters in page' ..... I seem to have been forgotten this morning.

Regards.

Joan H.

I no longer go to the Grantham breathe easy,as too poorly now. However my advice would be to go. My specialist is Dr Campbell. and he is brilliant and so full of help and advice, hes very kind too. I have listened to one of his talks before and it is well worth going to, hes very happy to answers questions after too. I have never heard of a physio being present there before, but its been over a year since I have been. It is a lovely group full of kind and welcoming people. Best of luck hope this helps and if you go let me know how you get on please.

Thank you for the info on Dr Campbell, I would have loved to have gone to theGrantham meeting. but it appears the list again was incorrect, and there is no talk by the consultant on that day after all .... Details are now removed from the Grantham Breathe Easy page.....

I am now classed as severe stage 3. But because I am well & active I have no referrals at all ,So I want too get as much help & information as I can while I can......if that makes sense.

Anyway thanks again.

I would suggest you call the BLF Helpline 03000 030 555 - not all the group pages have listings of future meetings - only the group contacts will be able to tell you that and then it will depend on how far in advance groups plan their meetings.

Also why don't you have a chat with one of the BLF Helpline nurses - as many people will testify on here the Helpline nurse do know their stuff.

Joan I am so sorry, to hear this. I was originally under Boston hospital, as I was admiited there with an exacberation, the staff were lovely, but no referals, after, my respitory nurse then realised that although I have to go to Boston if rushed in by ambulance I don't come under them, so thankfully for me it turned out I had to go to Grantham, even though its nearly an hour away to see a specialist. I wish you could go there it made my life so much better I see him often, and whenever I need to and he is so good I hope you get breathe easy sorted out, wish I could still go, just being with like minded people helps so much.

Best wishes Julie xx

Hello Julie, you are lucky to have such an understanding consultant and are so happy with the care at Grantham.I am very pleased for you.

I also come under Boston, I did see

a chest physician at Boston back in 2010.

My GP had questioned if I had copd or something similar. This consultant looked at my chest xray plates.... agreed that it was only copd nothing more ,

then discharged me from the clinic. No further follow

ups etc..

We are as close to Peterborough as to Boston,

so there may be a ray of sunshine afterall.

Its a pity you cant get to the meetings anymore..

You really enjoyed them. I feel sure without a doubt you are a very much missed member.....

bye for now.

Thankyou for your comments ..... However may I

suggest that , with their consent , the telephone numbers

for each group contact be added to their respective

Breathe Easy group page.

That way there would be no errors on the web site, and contact would be made so easy for prospective

new members.
