Hi there, simple answer is yes, my GP is looking at my med's to see if he can get my blood pressure up. Says as my oxygen levels are good he is not over concerned as yet but it has been low for around 10 month's now.

He says l need more exercise and I agree, I am going to try, as I would rather be suffering to get fitter than sitting around taking extra med's.

I did get a little bit rebellious to get my blood pressure levels up, and it worked, now I have not told my GP, but I stopped taking my 2 lots of heart tablets and the last 2 blood pressure readings have been 120/70 which he thinks is great, the perfect reading for and old codger of 56.

I do NOT recommend going against medical advice but sometimes you do need to trust your own opinions, who really knows your body better than you?

Hope you get it sorted out!

Good Morning - My husband is 66 today! - he has recently had problems with raised blood pressure. To some extent he has been controlling it himself and last year he had dreadful side effects to the bp medication. It is not low enough yet so has resorted yet again to another medication. I wonder if the inhalers he takes have an effect on bp? TAD xx

Indeed! And apart from the BP-lowering nitrate content . . .

ageless.co.za/herb-beetroot...

Quote:

"Beetroot is helpful in creating healthy red blood cells and helps to maximize the amount of oxygen being carried on the red blood cells.

It also increases the efficient uptake of oxygen and during exercise it helps that less oxygen is required – leading to far more stamina and staying power. . . ."

(And it's delicious, IMO)

Thanks for the link. Will try it. I love beetroot but hardly eat it as family hate it.

Hi Mommaalou- I have emphysema & asbestosis If I do anything like a slow walk to the shops my heart rate can regularly increase ,generally around 140 BPM and my oxygen drops by approx 5% to 90% ironically I have good blood pressure not that I'm complaining about that. I try to do this walk once a day as part of my excercise regime but some times it can take it out of me for the rest of the day, but gotta push myself and keep lungs open while I am able to - Breath easy-Plumbob

In hospital they worried about my high heart rate, they stopped the aminophiline I was on which did,nt make much difference. When I next spoke to consultant he said"I,m not surprised your heart rate is high the amount of effort you need just to breathe"and the aminophiline was,nt making any difference any way.It all seems to be trial and error, just see what works.Good luck.D.
