How do I apply for a blue badge???

With my Emphysema and scoliosis I find it difficult getting out and about. My daughter drives so she could take me out shopping etc and be able to park in a disabled parking space. It would make life abit easier.

Unless you have higher mobility , you will have to apply to your local council.

Forms can be download from Government website.

There is likely to be a face to face assessment .

Thats how I use my badge, to apply I think you need to go to the local council houses. But I am not sure I think there is an on line site with all the info, try this one tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads... and Stone as also supplied a link, you may have to supply evidence or attend a medical if you don't get high mobility payments. The rules have changed recently. Good luck

Hi Katie -You can apply on line at the site Stone mentioned, during the process it asks you which is your local authority.They say it only takes 15 Mins think you need to be a whizz kid to do it in 15mins?LOL. cheers Plumbob

Wish you could find a government application that could be done in fifteen minutes need very nimble fingers(smiles) but good luck with an application.

Thank you stone and katieoxo60, I will take my DLA form with me to the council offices and take it from there. Hopefully I will get a blue badge and start living abit.

I have had a blue badge for 12 years. The last twice I have put in for it I have to see a nurse and take my prescription with me. You only have to do this if you don't get DLA I went last week for the renewal for the third time and the question you all about how far you can walk etc. Never come away feeling oh yes I will get it. Watch this space!!!

When I applied for a Blue Badge for my husband I just got the relevant form from the Council Office & took it to our GP - he filled it in & returned it to the Council Office - 3 days later we had the Badge . Hope you get yours without a problem .

Blue badges are issued by the County council not local council.

if you fill the form yourself [CABS] do it for you if you ask them, remember where it says about being able to walk 50 yards are whatever, is does say without pain or discomfort, the fact you can walk is one thing but let them know in a separate note how much suffering it gives you, send a copy of any letters from your hospital consultant not the originals as they will not return them. racey.

Good Morning - Originally our doctor applied for my husbands it was a very simple process. However to renew it we had to fill out a form online which was then sent to us to complete. The following link may help: gov.uk/apply-blue-badge

He was then asked to go a local centre for an assessment. The assessor was lovely, it was a simple process and quite easily showed his problems walking! Good Luck TAD xx PS Well worth applying - it has made a big difference to us.

Our local council deals with blue badges I went to the local council office but because I don't claim DLA or ESA I had to see a physiotherapist who is employed by the council but as soon as she saw my appointment letter for me to have a spine block I was given a blue badge, I have to reapply every 3 years this is because I don't get any benefits but if you claim DLA you will get one straight away

Hi Redgan.. You can apply on-line at the address stone provided and it will direct you to which local authority you come under, but it will take more time than the 15 mins they state (unless your a whizz kid!!!) It's important that you put as much info as you can in section 3 about your condition as they predominately look at physical attributes rather than the medical side of things so its important to let them know whats going on inside i.e. oxygen , heartrate etc ..
