Congratulations, it must be such a relief...my eye pressure has come down a bit and the field test ok last week, so I am ok for another year...no drops needed. What operation are you having for the glaucoma....my mother had little tubes inserted . Best of luck
Ive been having drops for about 5 years but this last year my pressures have been fluctuating....they wondering if. Its because of all the medication im on. Pred not been lower than 30 mgms for 2 years plus neumerous other stuff and no immune system...apparantly lot of damage to nerves in eyes. Anyway hes taking the lenses out thn putting some sort of drainage system in ...then doing other eye in 3 months. ! Cant wait. !!!!! Allways some sort of medical /surgical procedure to have done isnt there . Still its a social life. ( ha. Ha. ! ) sue
good luck and good news on the driving marian xx
I'm very keen to know how you get on with this op Sue as I've been stalling on having it done for some time now. Is the operation called a trabulectomy? where they insert a drain tube to relieve the pressure?. I understand you may be unable to drive for about a month after the op. My main concern was the overall success statistics for this procedure which is in the high 70's so it is not without risk. I 've had both cataracts done and they were straightforward ops but I'm less keen on the glaucoma surgery. I really hope things go well for you, please keep us informed.
Hi ..yes thats it. I ve had glaucoma about 4 years using just drops but this last year had problems and got lot of damage to nerves in both eyes . My surgeon is at the north staffs hosp and is brilliant. He. Said i would completly loose sight if sometnhing wasnt done .....zthe damage occured within 1 year and think it steroid induced ,but then they say everything is !! Anyway he going to take lens out then do this trabulectomy i in the hope of stopping it progressinng. .. zDO you drive at moment ? I had to let dvla know and they said ok foor 2.
Sorry pressed wrong button. ! Years then re test me. Anyway will keep you uckinformed. I.m 66 how old (or young ) are you ? I felt i didnt really ha ve decision to. Make. .The option was awfull . I nly been waiting 4 /6 weeks from when he told me . Anyway good luck. Sue x
