This has happened to me, Holly. I rang the pharmacist who wasn't concerned. I took another one in my puffer. It can happen so easily. i have been cautious ever since. xx

Thanks for your reply pergola1. I always put my morning meds out before bed and thought I was popping in an omeprazole. I do feel silly and will also be extra cautious from now on. x

Swallowed my Spiriva pill more than once! (Well a couple of times that I know for sure) I always inhale another one as the one in my tummy will not get to my lungs. Doc just laughed when I told him. Sara

Sounds like all should be well for you. But am sorry I had to laugh at what you did. Why? On Thursday I started what I thought was course antibiotics. Dodgy because wasn't my breathing that issue (or so I thought) felt dizzy for past couple weeks then v v dizzy on Thursday plus lots lower back pain. On Friday got up feeling much better. Realised not taken antibiotics but emergency steroids!! Decided what ever problem was/is steroids making me feel better so decided to complete course anyway!

Hi Jane..... yes.. my memory is not so good this is why I get them ready the night before. I actually thought I was picking up the omeprazole... will teach me not to look ! I did panic a little bit but have been given loads of reassurance from all the lovely people on this site.... yourself included :) Holly. xxx

p.s How is the adorable Bailey?

I've done this as well but rang the pharmacist who said not to worry, just inhale another one. Don't feel too bad, last week after a visit to the walk-in centre with conjunctivitis I accidentally put blisteze cream in my eye after placing the tubes too close together on the dresser. No damage done!

Been there, but in my case it was hair removing cream I got in my eye, very sore, phoned nhs 24, the nurse looked it up and told me to go straight to A&E, they would be expecting me! Panic. While they were pouring what felt like gallons of water through my eye the (very young male) doctor gave me a telling off for using hair remover on my eyebrows. There was absolutely no way I was telling him that I had been doing my moustache!

I don't feel quite so daft now!

I done exactly the same and started to panic until I rang my doctors for advise. They told me it wouldn't do any harm. I have never done it since because I am always more cautious now. xx

Hello Hollyhockhattie, I too swallowed my Spireva capsule last year and am still here! but I didn't take another one that day.

All the fun of us taking so much junk.

Regards Emmo

I've done it more than once. Drink plenty of water. No harm done.

Thank you for all your replies... I 'm keeping the spiriva separate from now on :)

Can I just ask... do you take your Spiriva capsule out of it's foil the night before? Only it tells you to only remove it just before using, and to discard any that have been out of the foil for some time.

As long as you don't swallow the inhaler, you should survive

Oh dear SeasideSusie..... now you tell me :) Actually I usually put all the other meds in a pot and the spiriva capsule in its rightful container ready to use when I wake. If I don't do this then my memory is so awful that I forget to take them until the evening or at all. I guess I'm going to have to the read the labels from now on and make jolly sure that I do remember ! Thank you for sharing that with me though otherwise I would never have known .

Wonderwoman lol!

I am so happy I found this site & reading what everyone wrote. I think I just swallowed my Spiriva capsule, I see the foil here but can't find the pill. I think I took it when taking my Vitamin. Reading all the comments I see I am not alone & it makes me feel better. I am hoping I don't get sick from this. Thanks
