I am trying to get travel ins for my ... - Lung Conditions C...
I am trying to get travel ins for my husband, he has portable oxygen for copd, can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks
I have just bought our insurance from Holiday Extras, went through lots of websites, filled in numerous questionnaires and this came out at the right price. Hope you find the right one for you.
Agree with Bilko952 - Avanti are the one we travel to USA with . My husband not on oxygen but has very rare lung condition - Avanti the most reasonable of the very few prepared to offer cover ( & it's the best cover ) Hope they can help .
Thanks to all who have replied to me, however, every company I try ask if my husband has needed oxygen when not in hospital, when I click yes they don't ask if he has portable oxygen, every quote so far has been over £200 for 1 week to Spain, because they assume he will need oxygen, but he has his own. Has anyone managed to get a quote that has taken into account their own oxygen? Thanks
Hi,it's nothing to do with your own oxygen,I have IPF and Emphysema ,and recently started ambulatory oxygen.Went abroad last year and to the states no trouble. However since I now have oxygen I can't. Get insurance. I did manage to get 1 quote for USA of £1000 per week, and £ 350 for Spain.Cant afford that,so I might risk Spain and go with just the EHIC,it's bad enough being ill and we know the warmth will help, but the insurance companies don't want to know.I have had no complications at all so far, I could cry as my only son lives in the USA with my 2 grandchildren,i might never get to see them again.Sooki.
Hi Dartgirl, you could try Worldwide Travel Insurance Ltd, telephone 01892 833338. I’ve got annual insurance with them. It gives us cover in Europe for trips of up to 62 days each. I have COPD and asthma and I'm on oxygen. The price didn’t seem too bad – about £400 for both of us with all conditions covered. Shorter trips would be cheaper. They didn't ask anything about my oxygen suppliers.
Perhaps phoning rather than applying online would be more successful. Online forms seem to be so rigid. I hope you manage to get some insurance organised so that you can take your holiday.
Best wishes, Jan
