I was given nicotine patches which worked for me, and there are group therapy classes you can attend !

I used nic. chewing gum years ago, but realised that was becoming a crutch, and gave me heartburn. I feel occupying your mind with some unrelated hobby/interest is the best thing to do. Educating your mind with the help of Will Power is the best thing.

I stopped 4mths ago ,my health care assistant I feel is a very genuine person and for me very caring an excellent listener firm when needed,i couldnt be any luckier. If Id have had the other lady who also is a smokey nurse a very different storey, she is severe, bossy and unforgiving no patience at all,she doesnt have a very good success rate! The answer Mark is in your question i think support from that person who has a happy caring disposition.A very frustrating job as they say people try several times very often before they are successful, to qualify as a nurse is one thing ,to be a good nurse is something else, whats that song 'its not what you do its the way that you do it' Happy days Mark :) Janexx
