Can treating Aspergillus infection cure asthma?

Doctor just told me an antibodies test came back positive for Aspergillus, and treating it will cure the severe, uncontrolled asthma that I have been struggling with for four years. Is this true?

I don't know about curing asthma Aria, but it should lessen your coughing.

Interesting question, I'm waiting for interesting answers Aria34.

3 times my sputum test have come up positive for aspergillis and skin test had a small reaction but con says no.

It seems my problems over the last 4years have been down to uncontrolled asthma. Peeg

con? I had an antibody test done from blood work, doc says there is sufficient antibody response for a positive diagnosis.

consultant, horrible man so he's a con to me (a rude word in French).

My blood test was negative apparently. I'll be very intersted if the fungicides help asthma.

Hi if you are producing anti bodies to aspergillus then it could mean that you are having an allergic response and therefore causing asthma. so by getting rid of this fungal type bacterial infection then your asthma will improve.

BE positive it may improve your condition. cheers Irene

I tried that after 2nd visit but the receptionist at chest clinic told me I could only see one of his registrars instead. My GP said he'd re-refer me but didn't for some reason.

Anyway the registrar was brilliant. my method now is to pop in a week before an appointment, check I'm down to see a registrar and ask them to put a note on my file. Then I pop in the day before to double check. I've been caught out twice before & come face to face with him & had to tell him thanks but no thanks, I'll come back another day. Once was a 300 mile round trip for nothing, to find only him on duty. He's a rude pig.

I'm expecting to be discharged later in the month (after going through my avoidance techniques) so in future I will request the Royal Brompton.

Stay warm, are you better? I'm longing to be, fed up now.
