Does prednisolone give you panic attacks and depresion
It can do my husband has to use it with antibiotics when he has an infection and has recently found he can only tolerate 4 tabs daily rather than 6. If this is happening to you please talk to your doctor as soon as possible. Take care TAD xx
I have been on and off it for years and have never suffered except being pretty fed up of weight gain while on it.
See your GP perhaps this is triggered by something else, but well worth discussing it with him.

It can do, some are affected this way, others not.
As suggested check back with your doctor about the side affects you are getting.

Thanks Blackey that ties in with my recent experience following a phased reduction from 40mg. I am now on 5mg daily my standard dose and have had a reduction in panic attacks so much so that I am tempted to stop taking prednisolone altogether.
Hi Brian, I think worth mentioning to your doc about the anxiety attacks and what you noticed whilst on prednisolone, the doc may be able to advise an alternative for you. I would be in serious trouble without prednisolone for my own lung infections, my lungs respond really well to the drug. I am glad you are sticking with the course.

Can only speak for myself Rosebud. It makes me feel dreadful.
GP asked yesterday if I can tolerate it I said thanks for asking but I feel awful on it. She said she'd give me a higher dose for shortest time. OMG, took 8 late this morning and I'm now quaking, shaking and my heart is thumping.
Tomorrow I'll only take 6 & see what happens. Can't function.
poor you peeg, its not good. A friend in the US has terrible trouble also. Hope the symptoms are short lived or settle as you reduce the dose. When I've needed them I usually have 6 for 5-7 days depending how bad the infection is without reducing down.
Thanks BC. I wondered if I might die last night. Was awake until after 4 and my heart was turning somersaults for quite a long time.
This morning I took it earlier but only 4 tabs instead of the 8. I'll see what happens later. Never again will I take 8 or take it later in the day. Need my beauty sleep!
.......... Oh yes and I was uncharacteristically furious for hours.
Rosebud, I hope you're feeling okay today and good luck at work, don't forget you have rights. I retired early and promptly got ill!
I get a few days of feeling very depressed after stopping a high dose of prednisolone. My panic attacks get better though, but one of my daughters becomes very agitated when on a high dose, and the other gets nose bleeds.
But they certainly help with breathing.
it will affect your hormone levels so may be that is the answer

I have had to have several short courses and 1 long course of Pred's over the past year and have had panic attacks, depression and other side effects. I had very similar side effects with Champix when I gave up smoking, so I knew the signs. Go to your doctor and discuss it tomorrow. I hope all goes well and you feel better soon.

When I first had asthma I was put on a prednisolene trial. After a few days I found myself getting very aggressive and after I had argued with three shop assistants I came home in tears. The doctor explained that steroids are like alcohol in the affects they can have on you.

All ive noticed about Predisolone is it makes me a bit hyper and affects my sleep pattern like im awake now and its only 5am !!
