I am feeling really bad and am being sick a lot. Do I speak to the Doctor to make sure the strain won't harm me? I have moderate copd and I have no idea what I Am doing as its still relatively new. I haven't found my doctor very helpful with information so I thought I would ask on here first for general guidance. Thanks

Thank you. I will try the doctors and see if I can get past the receptionist!

Morning Carol, Yes I think you should be talking to your doctor, tell them you have COPD as well. Receptionists can be dreadful, one trick I have used is to ask to speak to the practise nurse who can be more helpful and has direct access to the doctors! Hope you are feeling better soon. Take care, TAD xx

I just rang the docs and the receptionist comment was the COPD must isn't in today...she didn't even suggest an alternative! So I told her to get any one to call me. She wanted me to come down to surgery despite the fact that I am unable to leave my bed!! She then got an attitude!! This puts not the first time I have had problems. Think o am going to have to leave this practice.

We are lucky because although our doctors retired, the same staff stayed and usually they are quite good. But I hate the stress of ringing especially when you need help. I wonder if when you are better you could make a complaint to the practise manager? But then is it worth the stress?? Hope you get a call back very soon. More than that hope you start to feel better soon, Take care TAD xx

I find my local pharmacist is a big help in these situations. Have you got one you can ring?

Hope you are feeling a bit better xx

Thanks all four your replies. Had a dreadful night but I think it's a little better this morning but I doubt if I will be up and about! Oh well, a duvet day isn't the worse thing!!

Morning Carol, I hope you are still on the mend since your post this morning.

How appalling that the receptionist asked you to go to the surgery with vomiting to possibly pass on! Grrr

Do be careful, are you sure it's a bug and not a reaction to anything new you've taken?

This is all new-ish for me too but I know from previous jobs (and experience) that you must keep hydrated. Also very important to put back in what you've lost in nutrients so as not to weaken your immune system any further.

Is there anyone who can get you some Diorlyte (wrong spelling) from the chemist then sip them to rehydrate.

Then eat little and often for a couple of days, lots of easily digestible nutritious little meals.

Take care, I can't remember what your level is, I'm mild plus asthma but joining the BLF has made me very aware of really looking after yourself health wise to prevent worsening conditions and so giving yourself the best possible future. Get well soon and be good to yourself :)

Peeg xx

Thank you for your comments. I was told initially that it was mild then on my next visit 2 weeks later, the nurse said out was moderate. When I questioned this, the nurse told me that turret had changed the guide lines! I have given up with them. I think I am going to change my doctor but I am concerned that they ate all the same nowadays. The care just doesn't seem to be there any more! Thanks for the advice.

Hi Carol, Doctors aren't all bad. Mine is great and sees me the same day if I have a real problem. I have an excellent consultant too but it is perhaps because I live in a rural area and they aren't under as much pressure. Ask around to see if any of your friends use a better doctor. Hope you are over the sickness soon. Regards Popplewell
