Hollyhockhattie, well never drunk coke so can't blame it for my demise. But it does have a lot to answer for when it comers to your health. I personally think it tastes disgusting but our children lap more of it up than milk. I think in should have it's recipe change so it causes less health issues
Yikes Holly! Pete loves the horrible muck and has bought cans of it on offer from Tesco. I may just go and let him know how bad it really is though just to see if he will get rid of it. I don't drink it as the sugar is way too high. Thanks for that thought provoking post. Take care. xxxx

As this is based purely on epidemiology - i.e. that those drinking more Coke were more likely to have asthma or COPD - there is an explanation other than there being a causal link . . .
Because caffeine is a bronchdilator it is probable that Coke, which contains caffeine, will be preferentially consumed by those with breathing difficulties . . .
Just to be different...when I was recovering from pneumonia the only thing I wanted to drink and made me feel better was cola. Still here... but I only drink it now when I feel ill.
That's interesting flib. I hate cola and all pop. Sometimes I have grown aspergill. Also obviously with pretty constant abs we often have to take Fluconazole- would it also be the case that these would have to be taken with coke and if you can't tolerate coke what else would you take.
My step father always said if you want to see how bad coke is for you put a dirty coin in a glass of coke overnight and see how the acid (as you say as battery acid) will clean it and eat the metal - yuck - thanks for reminding me xx
