Hi Tylersdad, very strange and confusing. There could be various reasons for a sudden drop then a return to "normal", by which i mean whatever is normal for you. Hope you get this resolved. jean

You don't say if you use oxygen normally. If 66 and 58 are your O2 stats, then I hope you have oxygen to hand as below 88% is dangerous for your internal organs. I always ask for a copy of my lung function results. Then you have more time to think about them and discuss them with e.g. the BLF helpline.

Problem is they will not. It has been hard enough for them to get me tested so far. They ignored what the PR nurse said and my cardiologist regarding my low 02?

Hi Offcut, you have the right by law to see your medical records. GP practice have a form to fill in to request them or you can write in yourself requesting just copies of lung function tests.

When I needed records of all pneumonias, chronic bronchitis, results etc for the con and requested them receptionist was very suspicious until she realised I wasn't out to dump them in it. Then they were quite helpful. They keep results separately on your records so easy enough to print them off. I had to pay for the printouts but so worth it. P

I part did that when I was in 2 different ICU wards in 2 different Hospitals for 32 days the first and main stay hospital was pretty easy to do but the other were I was on an oscillator and in a coma, was a nightmare they bogged me down with red tape and forms I gave up on in the end.

I am getting a distinct impression that they are not happy that I was right to persevere for my tests. Maybe when I go back and report on the water tablets affects soon, I can move forward as they may have ran out of dummies to throw out the pram.

Like Tad says, call the BLF helpline Tylersdad. Sounds like you really do need to talk it through with a professional.

Hi Tylersdad, are you in the UK? This sounds very worrying. I hope you can ring the British Lung Foundation helpline to find out good questions to ask your medics.

Good luck to you, peeg

I am no expert but I did recently have several abg tests. The printout from the machine had lots of different numbers on it relating to different aspects of the blood. I was asking about the o2 sats as a % but the nurse was looking at another number which, for her purpose, was more important. This particular number had to be greater than 8.

What I am saying is - these numbers, 56 88 etc, may be measures of something else other than your oxygen sats. The fact that your lung consultant isn't worried would suggest to me that I am right. Perhaps someone could clarify for you what exactly these numbers are - are they really your oxygen sats as a percentage, or are they measuring something else about your blood?

Hi I live in Florida! As far as I know that number should be closer to 95-100
