Hello everyone

I just want a moan basically. I have had that awful flu that's going round. Recovered from that and then caught a cold which went on to my chest. Finally recovering from that thank goodness. I blame the onset of winter. Feeling better now for venting. Hope everyone is luckier than me and breathing easy.

How rude! If you want to talk amongst yourselves, try a pm. And not even a word of empathy for hypercat who actually wrote the post! Hardly in the spirit of the forum eh? AMB

I must agree with you there andymb.

Telling someone to 'get a room'? How rude andymb! Perhaps you could have sent a pm to anyone who upset you and avoided causing ill-feeling here? Hardly in the spirit of the forum, eh?

in reply toToci

Andyb right though Toci. It is rude to ignore my post entirely and just leave a message for someone else. This person and I have a long term agreement not to put comments on each others posts. I have always stuck to this but it she/he won't there is not much I can do but ignore it is there?. I have spoken to mods about it but so far they haven't taken any action. This is why I rarely post now. But I do like to come in to support others. x

Hi hypercat

Sorry you've had such bad luck. I agree, the oncoming winter is good for nobody. Hope you're feeling much better. Just a thought on December 21st the nights start to draw out, I know it's only a couple of minutes a week but it's something.

Good afternoon, all ways makes me feel better to have a moan, glad your feeling better, It's definately that time of the year, my family's got the sickness bug and flu going round. It's like a vicious circle round here at moment, from my house to there's. keep telling them what my mother told me, open front and back windows and let it blow through, Don't really know if it worked, but funny to watch them having to move and do something so as not to get cold. Nannyb xxx

Brr! Nannyb. I opened the bedroom window for 5 minutes. The wind blew alright. 'Twas enough after 5 minutes!

So sorry you're feeling rubbish Bev. Yeah it's blooming miserable today. I'm finding it hard to get warm, I'd so love to get under a blanket on the sofa but I'm going to force myself to do some painting - this is purely to give myself something to be pleased about later (planning ahead is definetely not my forte so this is experimental)!

Really hope you feel better asap. Pen

in reply topeege

Thank you peeg. Just been doggie walking and I feel better now. Must have been the fresh air. Had to go slow though :) x

Sorry to hear you have been so poorly and wishing you well now. Winter can be such a pain in the backside and we can only hope to get through it as swiftly and easily as possible. Pete is not great in the winter but we all try and keep him well. Lots of love Bev and take good care of yourself all year round. Thinking of you. Love, Carole xxxxxx

Hypercat, I think the best advice about cough is either ask the BLF help line (click on red balloon of BLF logo) about ways to get rid of mucus, or get referred to a pulmonary nurse. She in turn can refer you to a physiotherapist team that can demonstrate to you how to get rid of mucus. You must do it with gentleness, not to sprain your chest muscles, since coughing is painful enough.

When I started getting ill, I was coughing after every other word (my wife said). The fact of gradually emptying my chest helped. Also the sputum was tested. is yours tested? If not you ought to (by getting a sputum pot from the surgery and coughing up in it) to have it analysed. Don't let a cough linger, as this can lead to worse infections taking hold of your chest!

If you do this, there's hope of alleviating this cough.

I hope hypercat that you won't get too dispirited. I'm on a "back burner" at the moment. I had my pneumonia with TB-like germ. That got better, thank God (really). but the consultant put me on antibiotics for the rest of my life; didn't want me to catch another nasty. Hope you get better H.C.

in reply tohelingmic

Oh dear HC sorry to hear that. Here's me moaning and you have had pneumonia! Much worse than mine. Thanks for your post and I am very glad you are feeling better now. x

Glad you're on the up and up now hypercat, my toddy is a blob, Yates's Australian white wine (which is actually a mix of sweet wine and brandy), slice of lemon, a bit of sugar, and hot water. More than two is lethal, so limit it to one these days! Sadie xx

in reply tosadie1951

Sounds nice sadie. Thank you for your reply. x

Hi Hypercat. Hope it's not catching on here. Sorry to hear you have not been well. trouble is when you get down with one thing it is easy to pick up another. Make sure you have plenty of hot drinks. i always find hot Ribena is good for colds and flu. when we we little before Ribena my Mother would put some blaccurrant jam in some hot water. Not very nice when you got to the bottom of the cup but ok otherwise. Hope you feel better soon.

in reply toMavary

Thank you Mavary. Lol dont think its catching on here. My mother swore by Ribena and we always had it in our childhood. x

Omg poor you flibberti. That's not good. I have not been as bad as that. Hope you get better soon. x

Many thanks all those who left nice messages for me. You all did apart from the two messages only for Daz and not me :)
