Feeling Positive for the first time. visited a new specialist last night, the first one was so awful he had me in tears for days.

My first specialist took 1 look at my CT and breathing results and said, 'well I give you 3 years at best' prescribed me spiriva and serentide and sent me on my way! I saw him once more where he asked me how far I could walk, I am able to walk very well, I do have to stop occasionally, but I can still do it, he said he didnt believe me!, sent me for a walk test, which I did well on (which cost me $250 to walk up and down a dark corridor) then looked quite disappointed when he saw the results.

My new specialist has seen me twice, last night he said that providing I keep up with my exercises and lack of smoking (I am 3 months clean) and keep well, I should be able to manage my emphysema very well. I actually had a smile on my face today for the first time since being diagnosed, and even skipped a little on my morning walk...... 3 years my **s* :-)

These b..... Doctors, some should be drowned at birth!

So glad you have the right one now.

Keep positive Kad. xxx

Glad you are feeling more positive obviously the first Doc never got the grasp of learning how to deal with patients. Glad you now have a better one who I am sure will have given you the correct information. Keep well Joyce

Thank you for your comments, he was truly awful, I am quite proud of myself for asking for a new referral, usually I am a sheep and do what 'professional' people tell me to do.

Well that first doctor certainly isn't a people person. How to treat a person is all part and parcel of their training, he needs to go back to med: school. Your second one seems to be ok, his positive attitude will help you.

So glad you are so much happier now, what a dreadful person I wonder if they ever think of the awful effect on people when they say these things.

Keep well and look after yourself.

Marvellous news. Well done for getting a new consultant. I think it is very difficult when you are faced with professionals. It must have taken some courage and how it has paid off! Long may you enjoy your life! TAD xx

that is good to hear, im glad you have brightened up, its true some doctors frighten you stupid, Keep smiling, and live for today. All the best.

You will probably be able to do more now that you are positive about your condition. The first dr should be reported to the medical society for giving you misleading information. If you have given up and continued to smoke which is how some may reacted when given a diagnosis like you got your condition would be have deteriorated at a much faster pace. Well done for not getting the second opinion.

Hi Kad21, Sorry you has what sounds like a complete *ss for a specialist, sounds like if they had 2 brain cells, one would be lonely. Glad that you have found one that cares about his/her patients. Keep skipping Nannyb xx

That's fantastic news Kad see if you have a aqua fit session at your local baths I do a aqua fit session and it really helps.

The first DR sounds like a ATOS DR to me your well rid of him good luck and keep up the good work with the smoking

Congratulations Kad, keep on skipping :)

Well done with staying smoke free and keeping up the exercise.

Best wishes BC
