You are young, tomb. I do think you need to sort any health problems out asap to enjoy the rest of your life. First step is to see your GP and make sure you are happy with what is said.

Secondly, if you smoke that has to go NOW. Further advice, we can help with that.

I am not making a diagnosis but it could be sorted. Quite easily, I would think, but you need to find out.

Also, if you click on the red balloon at the top of the page, you will be given the tel. no. of the BLF nurse. Excellent.

Good luck - Annieseed x

Tomb, have you seen a doctor yet?

You really must you know, it would be the sensible thing to do.

If you don't you won't find out what's causing your shortness of breath.

When you ring the doc for an appointment and they say "is it an Emergency" you say "yes it is".

Please do it, it could be simple or it could be serious. We're none of us medics here, just people with lung problems supporting each other.

I bet you didn't ring the BLF helpline like we suggested before? did you?

03000 030 555 They do have specialists.

Please do something and pronto.

Peeg (then come & let us know how you get on)

sure I will thanx....Godblessssss

A think ya panicing .. Bad breating will cause you to hyperventalte .. If you neck feels tight befour episode i find having sip of water helps.

A think worse thing that will happen is you will pass out and your breathing will just return to normal

Are allways best talking to your GP

Hope that helps cheers all the best :)

Fizzy drinks including beer can have an affect on breathing for people diagnosed with lung disease. So can eating a large meal. It's to do with bloating of the abdomen which can restrict the diaphragm movement needed to help us breathe.

Unsure if you have been diagnosed with a lung disease. Unsure if this applies to asthma.

Regards to heart problems and any other concerns you may have check in with your doctor.

Hi Tomb - please do as peeg says - start with the doctor and ring the helpline. Start to take control - worrying will only make it worse. Take good care, TAD xx

find out some breathing exercises to make sure you access the bigger parts of lungs ... ie using the diaphragm for deeper breath from bottom of lungs so all lungs used. sometimes quitting can mean that before the scilla hairs grow back that it's harder to get rid of the mucus ... ask doc for help ... can get muco tablets . drink lots water to make mucus looser. please see doc - there is lots of help and advice you can get.

Well if you stop breathing, I think you are dead! OK, Stop joking, Mike!

I don't think stopping smoking would make you short of breath. Please contact your GP, your respiratory nurse (if none available, ask your GP to refer you to one, they are splendid to comfort you and check that everything is all right) Ask British foundation Helpline too, after you got in touch with your GP. He/she will probably have you run some tests. she may refer you to a chest specialist too.

Stopping smoking does change the breathing in some people at first, but that's more likely in those who have smoked a long time. As you are very young I would take the advice given and see the doctor, but keep up the no smoking as that is good too. Lot's of things can cause breathing problems, you need medical advice for this maybe even medical treatment, as you may have an underlying illness like asthma
