Funny !! Not sure you should be buying one you need to get diagnosed with sleep apnea (not spelt correct) and the machine has to be set up for each individual so you could be doing yourself some harm. Why not phone BLF or give docs a ring.

You can get these machines on NHS if you need one. You need a sleep study and then they calibrate the machine to your requirements. They are used for sleep apnoea and also for low oxygen levels during sleep which is linked to COPD.

For what it is worth I have one and I wouldn't recommend anyone to get one of their own free will. You are limited in how much movement you can make because of the tube connecting the face mask to the pump. Then going away becomes difficult. My empty case with the machine in it weighs 7 kgs before I add the rest of my medical goods and clothes. When the case goes through the scanner the pump shows up and always prompts questions - perhaps I need a letter from the hospital?

Anyway the machine is for people who stop breathing. I was aware that I snored but the only emergency hospital admission I have ever had disturbed the others in the mixed sex ward (it was back in 2003). I then had a sleep test, was banned from driving and then acquired the CPA machine. True I was very tired at the time and likely to fall asleep anywhere any time I I was caring full time for Mum and I simply assumed that was why! Actually it was probably aggravated by the comfort chocolate I kept resorting to and the horrible weight gain!

Once I had used the machine for a week life became a whole lot easier because I no longer found myself so tired. After some months I also got my driving license back thank goodness!
