im at a bit of a dilemma about my sister she has c.o.p.d. diabetes stage 2 poly arthurtus potassium levels low and kidneys leaking protein.

my question is her g.p. has always given her steroids when she has had a chest infection until recently when he has stated he cant give her steroids anymore because she has diabetes. yet she has had it for some time now. i wondered if anyone eals has been stopped for this reason

My husband has PF and diabetes - he has steroids when he has exacerbations, it always messes up his blood sugars (sends them high) but if you know what's causing it then it's not so much of a worry in the short term.Unless of course it is making your sister's really high, then I guess it is a worry. Perhaps Diabetes UK helpline could advise ? He has finally come off steroids, been trying since October !! so I am hoping his blood sugar will come down now. (it's about 7.5 most mornings, used to between 5 & 6) Gill
