Hi Guys... Does any one know if HP can be caused by down pillows or comforters? I did ask my dr this a long time ago and she said no...but hey, now I am re-wondering!

Hypersensitivity pneumonitis...
I think it can be the dust mites that get trapped in them possibly? If no-one else can give a better answer, it's the good old BLF Helpline that may have a better view xx
Feather pillows and duvets make my asthma worse, I've got polyester ones now and dustmite covers fron John Lewis....but its a bit like sleeping in a sauna in the summer, and it all costs money!
I did have a feather filled sofa too but thats gone now.
My asthma still there but bad attacks are much fewer, so feathers didn't cause it. Don't know if thats of any help.
A Dutch Dr. who was the first to see I was going to have long term probs. with my lungs advised me to avoid feathers in bedding and furniture also to keep bedroom as clear as possible, no stuff and damp dusting every day etc,and no fluffy rugs!Well I haven't always managed to be so monkish/tidy, however got to say he was right.I recommend it as much as it is possible I gradually replaced bedding in the sales I found fleece products good and comforting. I dont get on with wool. Hope this is of some help I have emphysema and a few other bits and bobs of medical problems I've never had asthma Goodlucklillytan
