I was interested in that question. It wouldn't surprise me if it was possible, and had already been done by one or two members. Why, I dont quite know. Me is me and no intention of taking on another identity.
my reasoning, if you are reported by someone and banned from using the site, if you had another email address you could then come back on the site under another name and start all over again. I started up a new email because I am moving soon and will lose my old one when I change providers, but on my new one will be able to log in at my daughters until I have a new provider which can take upto 12 weeks, thats just to explain that I don't NEED to change my email, but someone on this site may need too, if you get my drift !!!!!
I do get your drift, slade.
hi slade yes I get wat u mean,if sum1 is banned or reported,i think they can get new email and come bak as sum1 elz.its like if u need new email for facebook account ppl chang emails all the time,1 of my grandsons changed his email he said its easy gran,
Hi Slade - I use a Windows Live Email address as this can be used irrespective of which Internet Service Provider you use and emails can also be acessed from any PC or laptop.
Brian
Thanks Brian.
This new one is gmail, so hopefully it will work where ever I am and which ever provider I end up using.
Some people have already used and abused this option - yes, using a different email address would let you sign up for another account in a different name if you wanted to. There are some who have been banned, but came back under another name. Difficult to police when people are determined to beat the system too. You can't ban an IP address as it's so easy to spoof one if you know how, and some people would have a different one each time they log on anyway.
Conversely, if you are changing service providers and you are going to lose your old email address then that could cause problems unless you make the change before the old one goes, by editing the email address you use to log in. With some systems you would need to confirm the new address by acknowledging the change via the old address, to make sure nobody is hi-jacking the account or something. Keeping the same identity would be preferable to me.
At one time I had over 20,000 different email addresses registered, not counting any 'anything at' ones on my own domain, like a@abc.co.uk b@abc.co.uk and so on if I had abc.co.uk registered. Back then in the late 90s I was reviewing email and internet services and kept a database of them all Some still work, many are now like the Dodo.
Because of the work I've done, I've had Gmail and similar accounts for a long time and do make use of them as well as my own and service provider addresses. I can confirm that a web-based service like Gmail or Hotmail/Outlook/Live will work with any service you sign up to, although they tend to be rejected for some things unless verified.
A tip - in Gmail you can use the name in several ways, so if you had fred.bioggs@gmail.com you can also use fredbloggs@gmail.com or fredblo.ggs@gmail.com, the dot does not matter AND you can also use it as fredbloggs@googlemail.com and the various combinations. I did that with one account when signing up for various services, so I could tell if any had sold that address on, just by looking at the variation they had used...
I understand paragraph 1, guessed some people were abusing the system. What goes around comes around in my experience.
Paragraph 2. As I have this new email address I could just let the important people know it now, eg bank etc, have I read that right? family and friends already know it. Part of my first email address consists in part the name of the provider, which has changed its name now, I will be going with a different provider so don't think I can keep the first email address.
Thanks for your help with this Gordon.

Yes, knowing that you are losing your old address you should be letting people have your new one and get them using it. Gmail can be used with any service provider, except some in China I think
You don't need to set up a new account here. Just click on your own user name right at the top of this page, select Settings from the drop-down list and you'll go to a page that will let you amend your registered email address here. Change that to the new one and you will keep the same user name, but will log in with the new email address. I'm not sure, as I've not done it, but some sites need you to acknowledge the change by responding to a message to the old address, which is why it's a good idea to change while you can still use that and not be locked out.
Part of the tie-in for many Internet service providers is that if you leave them you lose the email address. I have my own domain name and mail server, left over from when I had my own business. As long as I keep paying for the domain name I get a good mail service that isn't tied to a provider and isn't available for others to use the name.
If you've any questions on email, feel free to PM me
Once again thanks.........I'll have to send you a chocolate or something, lol.
Luckily I used my new gmail for this site, once I get exchange of contracts then I will change email address with people like fb, amazon and online banking. Have lost one sale, so not holding my breath on this one, sorry bad wording there, forget myself some times !!!!
Hi Slade,
I use Yahoo e-mail I do also have my service provider's e-mail address but I never use it for e-mailing, just to log in to my account that's all. It is true, with gmail, yahoo mail, AOL mail and live mail or Hotmail. all of those accounts you can make up and they will be yours for your entire life despite where you live.
your're very welcome, I hope that you can sort it out and wish you good luck.
of course and you could always talk to yourself and have an intelligent conversation
I have two computers and use the same email address and password for both!
