Mommalou, i am so sorry that you are feeling depressed. The weather doesn't help. Coming on to this forum is a good step, to talk to people. Have you spoken to your doctor, perhaps he/she could suggest something to help.

You lookup King of the Cocktail or Berwick's jokes to mention just a few. I dont know much about your circumstances or the reason you are housebound. I am hoping that someone else will join in with their advice. All the best from Annieseed xx

We all seem to go through periods like this, where we feel trapped, don't want to go out, dare not go out, whatever we really feel like.

Having a read through blogs and questions on here can take away some of that tension, finding out what others are doing and getting advice. There are hundreds of messages in the archives if you want to pass a bit of time reading. Use the search box in the top right if you want to find out about a specific thing, like a tablet or therapy.

The BLF helpline can also help you, just by having a chat with them and see what they can advise. They are open M-F 10-6 on 03000 030 555 or visit the website at blf.org.uk for lots of useful advice.

Hi mommalou,

I thought we hadn't seen you for a while. It can really pee you off feeling rough and being housebound. I hope you feel better soon.

Bobby

Sounds like you have reason to be down after all you have gone through!

Everybody is individual, but if you are feeling miserable, 1. Take advice offered here and try to change things.

2. If you are still down, perhaps a chat with your gp or blf nurses may be in order. They can offer help.

Enjoy your weekend, as best as you can!

Kevin

I am sorry to hear of your depresion I did notice that you say you have come off steroids recently. One of the side effects of them is mood changes especially when coming off them so it could be that in which case hopefully it will pass soon. In the meantime take care and look after your self and concentrate on doing things you like and dont expect too much of yourself until your feeling better x Julie

Have you got a local 'breathe easy group' and can you get out at all? Just changing the scenery can work wonders. Staying in all the time is not good. Have you got a local U3a near you? U3a run local clubs where older local people organise all kinds of weeky activites - many indoor like art, family tree, photography, etc etc.

:)

((((hug)))) for you. I hope it improves soon.

I agree with Lovemelovemydogs that steroids are bad in that way. I also think heart attacks can cause depression unless it's a coincidence, but one of my colleagues had a mild heart attack about 6 weeks ago and now she's back home no supposedly ok but has said how down she is feeling.

Take care x

I also think that having a heart attack leaves you feeling down as you don't always know what to do for the best. Have you or are you receiving any aftercare? Can you go for a walk in the garden or a local park for just a short while or get someone to go out with you for support? Hope you feel better soon and your health and wellbeing improve. Keep coming back to this site as you will get lots of support and advice from the good people on here. xxxx
