Well it's wet and dull here in Lancashire but I am going out to lunch with my sisters. It's getting to be a habit this is the third Tuesday in a row that I have been out to lunch.I suppose I should make the most of it as my sisters are off to Egypt next week I gave it a miss as I have had trouble breathing on planes and it scared me a bit also the thought of all that walking at the airport not to mention the heat jn Egypt put me off. I will go abroad again sometime but will go somewhere that requires a shorter flight.

Enjoy your lunch, Gail. I don't do "abroad" any more either, but it's not because of flying. I've seen all the countries I wanted to when I was younger, and now too scared to go back in case they've changed.... I'll keep my lovely memories, and make do with holidaying here in the UK :) Sandra x x x

Have a lovely lunch, Gail. It is dull and wet here also. I'll have to ask husband and granddaughter for tips at lunch time so it feels as though we've been out. Husband from Yorkshire so his tips will most certainly not involve money! Alison :-)

Enjoy your lunch. Have a great time.

Hello Gail

I'm not too keen on going any further than Europe these days.

The Channel Islands are great and it doesn't take too long to get there. You can fly or take your car on the ferry. Taking the car is good - you can drive to wherever you want on the islands.

I hope you have a lovely time with your sisters.

Flew to Jersey 5 years ago but wasn't keen also it was very expensive.

Hello again Gail

When we go to Jersey now (together - Peter is there on his own just now) we always go self-catering.

The hotels are a bit expensive but the self-catering isn't too bad.

We also managed (last time we went) to get the ferry there and back for free!!! I saved all my Tesco vouchers and they paid the fares.

oooh! I don't know many ladies that lunch. Fred's cafe is more my line. Have a good time Gail and continue lunching when your sisters come back.

Actually one of the best places I go for lunch is a cafe inside a sheltered housing complex (or as the politicly correct term is now an easy care facility) There is a choice of 3 hot meals at four pounds ninety five each or quiche and salad then the usual sandwiches etc plus beautiful cream cakes all made on the premises.

Greasy spoonEh?

A dull dismal day here in Herts. Nice that your sisters live nearby. My sister lives in the US. I don't fly any more ..visited Dubai 17 times when my daughter lived there. Very glad not to fly because I caught a pneumonia bug which really affected my chest... not been the same since. I do dream of a river cruise through Germany etc. Daydreams!!

A river cruise on the Rhine....lovely, we used to go to Germany on coach tours and stayed in Assmannshausen which is on the Rhine. Most of the day tours were to places on the Rhine and the castles were beautiful. Oh to be younger again and not on oxygen I would be off like a shot. (Oh and hubby wasn't prone to leg ulcers because of diabetis, no long coach journeys for him now). Keep smiling.
