Feel so panicky
Hi, is it shortness of breath making you panic or something else?
The BLF helpline will be open soon, and there is a website called "no panic" I think.
Do you need to contact the NHS before then?
can you try some long very deep breaths to calm you. In through the nose, out through the mouth? xxx
If its the smoking cessation that is causing you to feel this way, there is an active Quit Smoking Support also at Healthunlocked:

Hi, hope you feeling a bit better, I am glad the BLF nurse was helpful.
If you look at Page 2 of the BLF blog there is an item on panic attacks.
I find distractions good if I am panicking, just simple things like word puzzles.
Your body is having to adjust to less nicotine I guess as well.
Hi Pamela welcome to the site. It could be a combination of nicotine withdrawal, sob and the diagnose of copd. Are you using any form of nicotine replacement therapy. I used the nicotine lozenges and I still use them if I need to 4 years on.
Panic is one of our worst enemies, it's a vicious circle once the panic starts the adrenalin flows the panic gets worse. I had it all explained by the experts, but found that a self hypnosis cd worked really well. Having tried that I went to a hypnotherapist, the results were amazing, thing that had panicked me for over a year seemed to melt into the past. It totally changed my life. I am not saying it would work for everyone, but a 99p download is worth a try. The first time I tried it I did think this will never work, but I suddenly realised I was following the instructions given and they were helping.
Hi Pamela. Well done on cutting down to just one a day. Get all the support you can to quit completely. I used to suffer from debilitating panic attacks. I used computer card games in the moment as a distraction - something repetitive and simple. Longer term I had a course of mild antidepressants and learned relaxation techniques but the best thing I found was exercise - just brisk walking initially. I've now discovered C25K but just getting over a chest infection. All the best x
