Sometimes - usually when on the steroids but now thanks to brilliant advice on here, put a couple of drops of Olbas Oil on my pillow and that sorts me out. Best nights' sleep ever since starting that a few weeks ago. :)

sleep what's that :) the sleep fairy does visit for a about 4 hrs if I'm lucky some nights. must admit tho I went off to bed sunday night early for me 10 o'clock and slept until 9 am, could have been because I'd had a spray of vicks before I settled down and it cleared everything out. my sleep patterns have been way out of line since my 1st chest infection a couple of years ago, I constantly feel shattered doesn't matter how much sleep I have.

I feel your pain, Ann1webb. If I get an hour or two, I think I've been lucky. I've tried every remedy under the sun, and it's still the same. Prescribed sleeping tablets have little to no effect either.

I've been this way for years now, since I cared for my late hubby. The only real relaxation I do get is when I meditate.

I bought my husband Rescue Remedy Night and that has helped him. After an exacerbation he always finds it hard to get back into a routine of sleeping properly. Sometimes I find it difficult to sleep and have resorted to counting backwards from 1000 and each time I loose my way start again - it seems to work! Take care TAD xx

I find Olbas Oil helps to keep nose from being blocked but sometimes nothing helps. Good luck. Alison

Hello chellshock,

When I had trouble sleeping I bought some 'night time tea'. Amongst it's ingredients is valerian root which is thought to be very good at aiding sleeplessness amongst other things. Valerian is also available in tablets or drops to add to other drinks. I find the tea works a treat for me, sometimes I can't even finish the full cup before I'm zonked out. It may work for you, it may not but before trying make sure you check it's side effects and interactions before giving it a try. They are available in Holland and Barrett, who usually have very informed and helpful staff, so ask if you're not sure.

A word of warning though, the tea bags smell like an unwashed sock! They taste nice though.

Regards

Biddy.

I use Olbas oil I put some in a bowl of water at night or in the china containers you can buy to hang on radiators to add moisture to the air since I suffer from dry eye. I also use Johnsons baby wet wipes to moisten the skin just inside my nostrel and around my nose, the smell is very delicate so does not take by breath since I have to be careful about strong smelling things with asthma. I use them to clean my keyboard too every day lessons the risk of picking up listeria or any other bugs not that I live in a dirty house but have 7 grandchildren who often use it to amuse themselves whilst we chat

I thought Olbas oil was for a blocked nose and lavender was used to aid sleep. Learn something new everyday.
