Hello

Yeah I think we've all suffered with depression, especially when we get an infection etc. You don't give any details have you done rehab course etc.

Kimmy please don't say all, I have severe emphysema stage 4 and I have never been depressed. I get dressed every day and go out most days, lugging my oxygen, read my profile and you will see that I cope quite well. Keep smiling.

Yeah me too, I don't feel depressed but that could be, " I been down so long it looks like up to me".

No the hell it does I'm fine, just can't be bothered its so tiring.

Good luck,

Chris

May I join you please? I regularly stay in my dressing gown all day and the feeling of "can't be bothered" can last up to two weeks, but I just tell myself that this dark tunnel I'm in has to end sometime so I go for the ride until I can see light at the end of it. It always works :) for me, and no drugs involved.

Keep on keeping on .... :)

I understand completely mommalou. I hope you've spoken to the doctor about it, although drugs are not always the answer they can help. Please don't think you're alone in this, there are many of us and I know it's so hard to talk about, even on a forum such as this where you are anonymous. Please feel free to pm me if you feel it would help. Libby

I know how you all feel I have post viral syndrome and can sleep up to 17 hours a day I have a few debilitating illnesses plus just been dx with copd I take antidepresants and these are wonderful for me it used to feel like a blanket of missery was covering me I think that you need to get help with your depression it's the best thing that I have ever done good luck guys x

I have the perfect solution to this problem...I don't ever get undressed - I sleep in my clothes, what's the difference?

I used to do that sometimes too.

I also stay in my nightclothes for at least one day a week, sometimes two. I actually find it extremely calming, knowing I can stay at home and relax. I keep the front blinds closed on those days so if anyone rings the doorbell I ignore them. I am a daydreamer by nature and need time hidden away from everyone.

I have to get dressed each day. I also have to do at least one worthwhile thing each day when it's not a work day.. Even if it's just the washing up. Then I feel that my day isn't wasted. I do this even when I have an infection and feel lousy. In the evening I can relax and then go to bed feeling ok.

Yes Puff,I am like you too! However down,I make myself shower,& get dressed,& honestly I do feel brighter straight away.I get the washing & housework done, then tell myself,I can stop if I want, but normally go & sit at the water,& watch the outside world,& that makes me feel better! Ready to fight another day,& glad to be alive.xxx

I have suffered from depression and panic attacks from way before I was diagnosed. Yes there are some days I don't get dressed but to be honest it is more because of going back upstairs than because I am depressed.

Mommalou please speak to your doctor there is loads of help around and if necessary take a tablet it would be worth it just to help you face up to being under the weather (todays understatement ;) )

Have to wash/shower and clean my tegs whatever else might be happening. Think I must have a fear of becoming 'unglued' and being rendered incapacitated so aim to do this as a positive step :-)

Its just easier to sit around and not bother to get dressed.I am just the same. If I dont go out then I dont get dressed simple as that! However I have noticed that I do much more when I get up and dressed, its a kind of signal to start the day. Hope you are feeling a little better now. xx
