So I've only recently recovered enough to go back to my usual walks following an asthma attack and a course of prednisolone.
My sleeps been up and down, wheezing on and off but no wheezing really during the day, just a slight rattle feeling every now and then.
Last night I had constant phlegm pouring down my throat and I'm worried it'll set my chest off again. I'm still absolutely wiped out from the last attack. Any hints for clearing this what I'm assuming is post nasal drip?
Got a review with asthma nurse on 30th so wanted to wait until then for GP input as I've seen them so much recently.

hi. Have you ever tried a nasal rinse? I use Neilmed. It is available over the counter and on Amazon. I was worried about using it in case it made me cough and choke but it didn't. It works well though you have to keep using it. It was recommended to me by my respiratory physio.
Hi yes I tried one last night just a saline one and it didn't make any difference annoyingly. I'm just at a loss as to what to do, my chest feels all furry again in the mornings and I'm bringing up more phlegm alongside the post nasal thing. Im guessing maybe it's the start of a cold? I'm new to all this 😒
If it's a saline spray type one it doesn’t do as much as the rinse. The other thing is doing it just once won't do much. You have to keep going with it. Sinuses are full of tiny holes that get bunged up and it takes time to shift the mucus.
Have a chat with your asthma nurse or GP about prescribing a steroid nasal spray. You can clean out your nasal cavity using the saline nasal rinse and then use the steroid spray - best results are achieved by ensuring the spray stays in the nasal cavity for around 10 minutes, otherwise it just goes down the throat. I lie on the bed on my back, with my head over the edge, to create the upside down gravity position for my head. After taking the spray, slowly move the head from side to side in order to move the liquid around the sinuses.
Neilmed bottle is great (used very gently). Another option to the nasal spray steroid some people suggested is to try fexofenadine antihistamine which was recommended to me by the hospital and makes a big difference. You can buy the 120mg dose as Allevia over the counter and take it before bed so it works most overnight. Hope one of these remedies works for you
