Travelling with Tezspire

I have had 2 Tezspire injections and will have my 3rd in 2 weeks time. After that I am due to give the injections myself every 4 weeks. I will be on holiday when I am due to give myself my 4th injection. Any tips on travelling with the injection? Are there cool bags available for example?

Thank you in advance for any replies

I haven't travelled with this specifically so can't advise on the temperature side of things.

Since it's an injectable device, however, I'd ask your GP or ideally your asthma clinic for a letter stating what the medication is, how it needs to be kept and that it needs to be on your person/in cabin baggage not the hold etc.

If you're unsure about what's needed for taking it with you, you can ask them at the same time (I suspect the clinic or specialist pharmacist will be better for this than your GP or local pharmacist, as it's a specialist medication).

I did this for my injection kit for adrenal insufficiency (letter provided by the nurse specialist on headed paper). No one ever actually asked for it, but much better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

Hi

I inject Dupilumab fortnightly.

I took two injections on holiday last year.

I got a letter from my hospital team and kept them in a small cool bag which I carried with me. I didn’t need the letter but better to be safe…!

Although stored at between 4 and 8 degrees you can keep them at room temp for 14days if necessary as long as you don’t put them back into the fridge after. Also ambient temps must not exceed 25degrees during this time.

I got along fine… am guessing the Tez has similar requirements??

Have a nice holiday! 😊👍

Thank you all for your replies. I have been looking online at the cool containers for insulin pens and they seem to fit the bill but I would need to check the measurements. Also having a letter I think is a must. I have an appointment at my tertiary hospital next week, they mentioned that they would give me a letter.

Hello, I am also having Tezspire injections every 4 weeks. Depending on the length of your travel to your holiday destination, I would use a cooler bag with ice packs that is normally designed for insulin, but works for Tezspire as well. I tried it before and the cooler bag keeps the medicine cool for about 5-6 hours, make sure you freeze the ice packs the night before. Then, as soon as you get to your location, you can put Tezspire in the minifridge and then use it when you need it. Hope it helps.
