Hello I was wondering whether anyone has noticed a sharp decline in being able to fight infections, viruses etc since being on the injections. I have been on them for 8 years and although my asthma is controlled my health generally is poor. I now have long covid.

Biologic Injections
I've been on Xolair for six years and I'd be inclined to say that this was a possibility since I get sick quite often from my young son's constant preschool germs except my husband gets all the same bugs and just as often nd severely and he is healthy as an ox. That's just my particular experience- Thanks!
I can’t answer this as I’ve been trying to get a trial of biologica to deal with my very bad allergic asthma . From reading up on them it sounds as if they change the way your immune system / mast cells react to asthma triggers but I’m unsure if this weakens your overall immune system or just the part that deals with asthma?
If they do make you more vulnerable to illnesses in general , I would have thought the hospital would have let you know the downsides before taking them? Giving advice and an information leaflet too. And maybe there are ways to counteract this side effect by boosting the immune system with supplements etc.
I did read something about them making it more difficult to fight off diseases like malaria?
I hope you manage to find ways of managing and avoiding illnesses
Personally, I've been using Nucala since July 2020 and asthma has been well controlled with no abs or steroids necessary. I think I've had a couple of colds during that time but just the classic symptoms that cleared up very quickly. Good luck.
I was on one of those biologics and I asked and asked about side affects etc was told hardly anyone gets side effects ,the first injection was ace then down hill from the 2nd one onwards until I decided I had enough ,itchy rash ,the worst case of thrush the G P had ever seen ,and then reading the paperwork that came with it 1 in 10 get what I had thsts not hardly anyone ,so yeah my advice is do lots of your own looking up they can lower your imune system but the doctors dont like to admit it
I'm waiting to see if I can have them but have to wait until they've got their staff together in otherwise the 2 who on holiday until next weekBefore they can have the case conference to discuss if they will be suitable for or what direction they can go to control my severe asthma. The only thing so far they've done is increase my steriod in haler from 2puff twice a day to 4 puffs twice aday.
