Could this be steroid damage?

Hi,

Today my big toe got briefly caught in something, and I wrenched accidentally, not badly. Obviously it was immediately uncomfortable, but I thought it would just go away before long.

Instead it is quite bruised, and I think this under the skin bleeding may come from the joint. As it seemed relatively trivial I just wonder if joints or bones might bruise or bleed more easily, after a fair amount of courses of steroids, though none for quite some time. I do bruise generally quite easily, and do get those fairly hideous red bleeds under my skin especially on my lower arms, and I also get skin tears, but mostly not badly at all.

Could such bleeds also apply joints? I just wondered if this became a bit worse than expected because of the steroid effects.

I believe that people on steroids are likely to bleed more easily and bruise easily.

I certainly. Raise easily and after the last three dental operations have had significant difficulty stopping the bleeding even with haemo cell patches on.

Thank you. Yes, it is what I wondered, though I haven't had issues with dental appointments at this point.

I certainly bruise more easily after 12 years on daily steroids , ,at any one time I can have six or more than a dozen bruises on my hands and arms, you tend to be more careful in avoiding immovable objects such as door jambs etc, but any concerns with bleeding or extreme bruising see a health professional, good luck.

it’s all those inanimate hard objects that seem to jump out and hit us somewhere that are the problem.

Inhalers or tablets?

Both, Duoresp ,Spiriva Respimat Salbutamol, and 5mg prednisolone daily, had a few different inhalers over the last twenty years.

Thanks fir your reply. I've had quite a few courses of steroids over the last 7 years but none in the last 2.5 thank goodness. i am currently on Fostair 200/6, though going over to Mart regime. i, along i think with many others, feel that my brising tendency and bleeding under the skin has worsened over the last few years, even though inhalers aren't supposed to have this side effect. my asthma has done well on Fostair.
