Hi. Since I need steroid tablets several times a year, my doctor also prescribed me Alendronic acid. I got very upset about it. Have any of you had any experience with these tablets? Thank you in advance for your answer.

My only problem with alendronic acid is the size of the pills The brand my pharmacy gives me means the pills are huge, During lockdown the factory had problems fulfilling orders, so they changed brands & these pills were a lot better, so they could be made smaller. I have no problem with the actual medication. Try not to worry.

Seems a good proactive gp to want to help reduce risks of potential bone density issues.

I take calcium supplements as read somewhere that people on steroids should to avoid bone weakness.

I broke both my arms and developed osteoporosis four years ago. This was due to in part to use of steroids. My gp was not as careful as yours and I had no medication to protect my bones. I have been on alendronic acid since then and have had no side effects.

I take a tablet once a week with a full glass of water and have to stay upright for 30 minutes.

It sounds as if you have a very good gp.

I took alendronic acid for 2 years then stopped (informing my GP) as I was getting increasing gastric upsets. I still take evacal as prescribed and vitk2. My gastric problems soon settled after stopping the alendronic acid
