If you can I think it would be great to ask your doctor more questions about the scan. For example, are they looking for something else aside from asthma in the scan (nodules, evidence of scarring or remodeling, blocked arteries, fluid etc.)? What asthma markers are they hoping to find? and so on.
I was not expecting him to say he wanted a ct scan, so allowed him to get away with generalities.
He said, it was just one of those tests that asthma consultants liked to do. On challenging further, he said it was so he could build a body of evidence for referral to a severe asthma centre. They would expect it to have been done.
I've had several so I would agree, it does seem to be something they like to do with severe asthma patients just to make sure there's nothing else going on. I hope it goes well for you!
