Hi Starstream.
I’ve recently started Fasenra. Although I was not permanently on prednisilone I very frequently had courses of pred ( 15 courses) in 12 months. It’s about eleven weeks since I started fasenra and I have not needed a course of pred since.
Hopefully it will work well for you and you will be able to successfully reduce them. It’s very daunting with new regimes.
Hope it goes well for you.
I was eating pred. I still struggle despite being on fasenra - I am waiting to go on xolair but now I only take pred if I am really poorly. The pred does make you feel better but the weight gain and mood swings mean I only have it as a last resort.
Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if the fasenra is working or not as I am still on the pred, may be able to tell now I am starting to wean off. Take care
👍
Same for me mood swings, increased hunger, weight gain that they the medics see not as a problem for me as I'm very skinny and naturally so, but which for me is a problem as I am not used to carrying extra bodily weight of my own upon my petite very slender frame.and it makes me feel as if I'm carrying and dragging sacks of lead which causes massive fatigue (fat i gue) fat i go 😂 and makes me feel extremely uncomfortable and feel too like a bloated up smurf sumo wrestler because I'm usually super skinny and being just 5ft 1 1/2 weight gain has us looking like weebles/smurfs/sumo wrestlers if we aren't careful. 🙄😫😩 and naturally I'm not that type of build as some people of the same height as me are. I don't like that overweight roly poly feeling. And extra weight gain also impacts my breathing with me having significant asthma that can just flare up massively out of nowhere. So now not being a regular steroid taker anymore (none unless almost absolute last resort before intubation) suits me just fine. ☺ I hated the round shapless moon face I got from them too.
Hi
I have just reduced to 5mg after months of high-dose Prednisolone. This really is a wonder drug for reducing inflammation of yhe bronchial pipes, but the side effects are terrible.
In my experience the withdrawal symptoms of coming off the tablets, is nothing compared to the effects when taking the tablets.
I see a private specialist and now take Uniphyllin and Trilogy Elipta, which appear to be successful. However, it is too early to tell if the Silver-Bullet of Prednisolone will be required yet again
Good luck and have faith.
John
Yes.
Now on dupilimab and off prednisilone.Don't get me wrong the dupilimab is not as good as 50 mg of steroids however I am off them at last after eight years and 60+ courses.
