Just wondering what kind, if any, side effects people have experienced commencing xolair?

Hey there! I've been on it for two years and it's been great. I've had far fewer courses of prednisone. The only side effect was the first month--I had a bit of trouble sleeping after the first shot. I think it's because histamine plays a big role in the sleep cycle. It went away after a few days though and I haven't had any issues since! (I can pass out in about three seconds these days :)

Hi Hillary, I’ve only been on it for three months but am also noticing weight gain. I spoke to my nurse about it yesterday, she said weight gain isn’t listed as a side effect but there is anecdotal evidence. Like you I’m not 100% sure it’s associated with Xolair or whether I’m just allowing myself the extra piece of cake too often!

Hi Ty80, I have been in Xolair injections for the last ten months and they seem to be benefiting me a lot. The side effects I seem to suffer most with is fatigue, aching and joint pain but this is generally for just a few days after the vaccination. One thing I have noticed happening is that I have put on quite a bit of weight during the last few months and I can’t be 100% sure it’s not the Xolair causing it or I’ve just gone really lazy.. hope this helps :-)

Hi, I had my third dose of Xolair yesterday. The worst side effect for me is really severe fatigue for about 36 hours. I have also had a bit of stomach cramp and joint paint. However the past two weeks my chest has been more settled than it has been in years so I think it’s kicking in. Apparently it’s a slow burn and takes upto about three months for full effects to show.

Good luck x
