Been on clenil for around 2/3months - two puffs twice a day. (I’ve tried to stay consistent but have forgotten a couple of times)However, I don’t believe my asthma is any better when playing football and my airways are still closing up. I’ve tried fostair and didn’t get on with the long acting asthma drugs (LABAs). I’ve heard of QVAR which is finer particles - is it worth the switch or no?
Beginning to loose hope with controlling my asthma as i’m really passionate about my football but my asthma is holding me back
any advice? - tia

There are all sorts of combi inhalers which contain different LABAs so I think you need to discuss with your GP or nurse trying one that contains a different LABA to Fostair because "not getting on with one" doesn't mean the others won't be suitable.
As for Qvar, it's the same drug as Clenil, which you may have realised, so although finer particle it might not make much difference.
Pulmicort is another steroid only inhaler which is budesonide not beclometasone so maybe a different steroid base would help.... but (a) it may not be enough as you may also need a LABA and (b) it will take 8 weeks to kick in properly, in which time things may feel worse (it won't actually be worse as such but your body will think it's got no or very little inhaled steroid because it's building up a new one). So will take a couple of months of perseverance to see if it's right for you.
Thank you for your reply, much appreciated. I think i do need to try other LABAs just a bit cautious as the Fostair set my heart off & gave me horrible headaches/night sweats & itchy skin (never had before). Heart conditions run in my family so very weary of that. I’d be open to trying more labas but do not want to experience that again. Thank you for the info on Qvar - don’t think it’s worth it then really. I’ll have to speak to my doctors again, it’s getting to a point again when i’m barely reacting to the blue rescue inhaler and is becoming dangerous when playing sport. Just depressing me really x
