All day-Asthma without attacks, it is really asthma?

Hi, as the title says can asthma exist without attacks? I feel better during the night but symptoms are present all the time. Medication do not work well except Ibuprofen: When applied it on my back, all my symptoms goes away, it is extremely effective. Inhaled steroids are not. My in symtomps are sharp pain and stiffness in the right middle back especially when moving, mucus, cough, tightness and breathing difficulties even if HRCT, 2 x-rays and spirometry are all normals. I'm not an asthma expert. Can you help me? My GP says it is a persistent bronchial asthma.
