Anybody on Incruse Ellipta getting urinary infections?

Hi, I have been on Incruse Ellipta since early November last year, as an "add on" treatment prescribed by my Respiratory consultant. Have had the occasional issue with painful urination, but now started with full on UTI which needs antibiotics. Has anybody else had similar issues, and how have you managed them? GP not sure if just a coincidence as I have just finished 3 week course of Pred, which of course will have knocked my immune system out of orbit. Many thanks!

This link to side effects describes it as urinary retention & advises the patient to stop taking the medication and to see their doctor incruse.com/risks-and-side-...

There are other LAMA inhalers available so your doctor could prescribe a different med which may not have this side effect on your health. I had other bad side effects from Spiriva and changed to Eklira Genuair, which definitely suits me better. It's a matter of trial and error at times, but worth it to get the right med.

Hi Poobah, I noticed that on the patient info leaflet and the consultant did ask me if I had any bladder or kidney issues before he prescribed it. It's not caused any urinary retention before, I've been producing usual quantities and normal flow until this last week. Occasional bladder spasms( but I've had those for years with my Fibro!), but this is a defo infection and today I feel a bit better on day two of the antibiotics. GP did say we need to monitor it for next few months just in case. I do drink plenty of fluids, and very rarely have any alcohol these days. Started back on D-Mannose supplement this morning in addition to my Cranberry tablets - going to try and prevent any further flare-ups👍. GP did say any bladder retention is a recipe for infection setting in.

It sounds like your doctors are taking good care of you, in that they are monitoring the situation and any possible link to the meds. Hope that the antibiotics do the trick and this is just a blip.

Thanks, Poobah. Its been a very rough 8 months and I hope we are beginning to get my lungs stabilised at long last. 🙂
