Allergic to dust/mould maybe? .... there's lots of both in the air at the minute

Hi, thanks for your reply, too much time inside does not help.

Any sort of nasal symptom sets my asthma off, so I use Beconase at the first sign of trouble. It takes a few days to kick in as it's a steroid spray, but it's the only thing that helps me. Some patients get on well with salt water sprays. One past GP prescribed Otrivine - it was great for about 3 days, after which it created untold nasal problems. I say avoid, including Sudafed and other similar decongestants.

A percentage of asthmatics suffer from nasal polyps, which can also be an indication of an aspirin sensitivity. Polyps will affect your nasal health and, in some cases, surgery is the only solution as they can be large enough to block the nasal passage resulting in a feeling of a blocked nose.

You can guy Beconase OTT but probably best to speak with your asthma nurse or GP first so that they're aware of your symptoms as it may come to affect your asthma. Stronger steroid sprays are available on prescription and their use is limited term only.

Hope you get relief soon.

Hi, thanks for your advice, I have tried Beconase with some success and other sprays which stop the irritation but not the mucus which builds up during sleep while I am lying down. A cup of tea and an hour of nose blowing is my best solution at the moment.

I have had polyps and surgery to remove them. I suffered immensely but I found that sinus rinse and avamys nasal spray has helped considerably. sinus issues will trigger asthma.

My husband had the same experience, and the op for polyps. Since then he has been far better!

I think its called allergic rhinitis. I used to have it. I am very careful with what I eat now.You could try going dairy free for a week, and then wheat or gluten free for a week . It may help !!

Thank you Paul, I have been told that giving up dairy might help and I have reluctantly tried to do it but not for a week so This time on your advice I will persevere.
