Deciding what to do over Christmas may be something you’re thinking about now. All four nations of the UK have agreed to a change of social restrictions between 23 and 27 December, meaning up to three households can form a ‘Christmas bubble’ during this time.
Even when following these new restrictions, it’s important to still take personal responsibility to reduce the spread of COVID-19. This is especially important if you are 'clinically vulnerable' or 'clinically extremely vulnerable'.
Whether you form a Christmas bubble is a personal decision. Part of deciding whether to do this is down to your attitude towards risk. Try to weigh up the benefits of forming a bubble against the likelihood of catching the virus. If you do decide to form a bubble, you should encourage the other people within your bubble to be mindful of your increased risk and to be extra vigilant in the days before you get together.
It’s OK to ask ahead about arrangements, to help your decision. You might want to ask:
How many people will be there? Will it be possible to keep up hygiene measures?
What are the bathroom arrangements?
How big is the space? Will it be possible to stay two metres away from people you don’t normally live with?
